"we had read very good reviews about the green room, me and 2 friends who have not seen themselves for a few years decided to go for the afternoon. we telephoned, booked afternoon tea and paid our deposit 2 days before. when we arrived. the waiter took us on our table and said: “I’m sorry, but the system didn’t update, so they didn’t know that we wanted to go the afternoon.” that seemed very strange when they had taken the deposit from us 2 days ago! the waiter said we had to order from the normal midday menu. after we had eaten our salad! we wanted to order 3 coffees, I asked the waitress if we could order coffee, her answer was: “It’s difficult because I don’t have a pen!” I didn’t reply, there are only 3 coffees and cakes. I then asked about the bill that lasted about 15 minutes when they finally arrived, they had not taken the deposit we had previously paid, and the waitress said: "She must talk to the manager, I explained that I stayed 10 minutes on the parking lot, so she could be fast. When I asked her what happened to the bill she said, they must go into the bar and sort it with the manager. I was very annoyed by the lack of customer service, not only had they forgotten our afternoon, but had also accused the wrong crowd. he was quite arrogant and served other people and let us wait. he said he would take £11 for the mistake with the afternoon! it is a shame that eating and the environment is very beautiful. Unfortunately, the customer service makes this place so much down. it is safe to say we will never return or will not recommend it to one of our friends."

"A warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff. Perhaps not the easiest of places to find, even if you do know your way around as it 's hidden away in a quiet back street in an already quiet village location. We were quickly seated on arrival and drinks soon sorted. An adequate choice on the Sunday Lunch menu, including traditional Sunday Roasts and pub classics. Vegan and vegetarian options. A nice touch that although my wife chose a main that was shown as vegan on the menu, they thoughtfully asked if she was indeed vegan (or vegetarian) before the food arrived so as to tailor accompanying veg/roasties/yorkshire pud accordingly. Starters, mains and desserts were all simply presented, without excessively flamboyant garnishes etc but that 's no criticism, just an observation the food itself was very good indeed. Really enjoyed our starter roasted asparagus with garlic mushrooms. Only minor criticism being that one of the sides (cauliflower cheese) was a bit over browned. Swiftly noted by server and a replacement offered (but declined it really was no big deal). I had the classic beer batter fish with chunky chips. Menu said mushy peas but regular petit pois were served. Superb chunky chips and chef really nailed that beer batter (apparently using Hooky ale seems to work well at any rate delightfully light batter with no soggy bits or over hard bits either). Generous portions all round, so both of us elected to leave a little room for our desserts We both enjoyed our meal and will doubtless be back at some point in the near future."

"I love proper country pubs and this is one of them. What a wonderful find! The food was excellent and served within a very acceptable timescale. The cost was fabulous. As it is Tuesday and therefore pie night, it was £10 for a pie meal and a pint. Excellent value. The service was brilliant especially Jordan who was so welcoming and interactive to just the right degree. Both him and the lovely lady who served us (truly sorry that I failed to get her name) were so friendly and welcoming, and they both had the perfect amount of humour and attentiveness, and both were so very on the ball, even though it was a busy, summery evening. They both made time to chat and to ensure my Service Dog had both space and fresh water, as well as double checking that we were happy and had everything we required. The food was beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. I had the vegan option of chickpea, aubergine and spinach pie, chips, vegetables and vegan gravy. I can honestly say I enjoyed every mouthful! If I was made to criticise anything, the only thing I could point out was that, being in the restaurant area, the noise from the swing door at the bar was very irritating. Everytime a member of staff went through it, the door banged like someone repeatedly kicking a football against the wall. Maybe some kind of quietner could be fitted? If it wasn't for this, I would have given The Sun, Kislingbury 5 stars. However, we honestly enjoyed the whole experience of the food, the location, the staff and also included a little drive around the old village, and we will most certainly be back again! Well done to everyone at The Sun, Kislingbury. So very happy to have found such a wonderful place!"

"Christmas day. Now that we have all had time to reflect, I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding the Christmas Day meal my party and I experienced at your establishment. We had high expectations, especially considering the substantial cost of £85 per person for our group of twelve. While the starters and desserts were acceptable, the carvery, which is a significant part of the meal, fell far below the standard I would have anticipated. The quality of the dishes did not justify the hefty price tag. The potatoes appeared reheated and lacked freshness, resembling leftovers from a previous week as were other vegetables. Additionally, the serving of only one pig in blanket per person was notably stingy, given the occasion and cost. The beef was tough and unappetising, and the cauliflower cheese was disappointingly watery. Moreover, our dining experience was further marred by delayed service, as we had to remind the staff regarding missing straters and desserts. To compound matters, our seating arrangement was unsuitable. Being placed adjacent to the toilets, we were subjected to a consistent odor of sewage throughout the meal, which severely affected our enjoyment of the occasion. Furthermore, the demeanor of the staff member attending to our table was notably dismal, contributing to the overall negative atmosphere. We also encountered issues with cutlery, having to request it repeatedly. Given the significance of this festive occasion and the considerable financial investment made by our group, this experience fell well below our expectations and left us deeply dissatisfied. We expected a higher level of service, quality, and ambience, especially on Christmas Day. We felt as though you were trying to get as many people in as possible and charge as much as you can for the privilege."

"honestly I don 't know whether to be particularly angry, or to pretend nothing is happening and be happy; I say this because the place is really very nice, the Tiger beer that I always drink is really very good, and the food is equally good, all the staff are logically kind and courteous, but unfortunately all this great wonder is lost in HUGE errors that could be resolved with extreme simplicity and with a minimum of professional criteria. First of all I would like to know how they can, after the customers have ordered at the counter, tell to them: don 't leave, wait for the drinks, being the only pub within a few kilometers, and having a good influx of customers and work, it’s easy to hire the little staff needed to serve at the tables, (having many tables available . Secondly, it is really shocking to have a good steak on the menu that is accompanied with good pepper sauce, and not even have a piece of bread to accompany it, I had to go to the off-licence opposite to buy a piece of bread to eat with the meat!!! ABSURD!!! Then again, how is it possible to accompany dishes with different products, (such as peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc. and not even add half gram of salt to complete the dish, the basic job of a chef is precisely that of knowing how to balance all the flavors of the ingredients that makes a dish!!! At the end there is the small detail that people have to eat on tables that being outside night and day are logically not clean to come into contact with plates and cutlery as well, SCANDALOUS!!!"

"Attended with a group of 13 family members and the service from our server Grace was excellent she was very attentive and got us our drinks orders and ensured all of the food dishes ordered went to the right person. We had pre ordered our food a few days before as we were a large group. So my son had ordered a steak that listed as follows on the menu Black Angus Sirloin Steak Chunky chip, salad garnish, portobello mushroom and grilled tomato with a choice on Pepper corn or red wine sauce £24.95 When his meal come out the peppercorn sauce was missing so we asked for it. We was told they would have to make it as it was not on the menu.. ok I said. The issue I had was when I went to pay. Now as a large group it was agreed we would pay for what we had in our family groups so I went up 2 pay for 3 meals. I was charged £70.23 as I was not sure if the price of my own dish or my wife’s I tapped my card and got my receipt Back at the table I noticed I was charged £2 for the peppercorn sauce and a 10% service charge had been added at £6.38 Now firstly I was going to give a tip to our waitress Grace along with the rest of the table and nowhere did it say on the menu or at the till a service charge will be added and neither was I asked at the till if I wanted to pay it it was just added I checked with others in our group who had paid and they were either asked or the charge was crossed off the receipt. Disappointed as I knew the service charge would not go to just Grace but probably not to the staff at all. After pondering the £2 for the sauce I went to talk to the staff to ask why I was charged for it to which the Manager who over heard barked back at me rather loudly in front of other customers “why did you not expect to pay for it as it’s a chargeable extra” I responded “well it doesn’t indicate this anywhere on the menu” he then shoved a menu at me and said “read it” I gave it back to him and said “I have and there is no indication of the £2 charge” He aggressively said “all restaurants in Northampton charge for sauces” I was shocked at his reaction as he turn his back on me to walk of so I said “well change your menu to reflect it” He turn back and said “ok I’ll get you £2 cash from the till” “To be honest I said I don’t want it but it’s the principle of it .. you keep it” I went back to my seat and a minute later another waitress came over with £2 cash and awkwardly said sorry. The manager just avoided our table from that point until we left. Spending £250 on the food £100 on drinks we didn’t even get a thank you or goodbye when we left and the place was nearly empty Won’t be going back purely because of his attitude and the added service charge and the hidden costs It’s not as if I could go and get the food myself from the kitchen Serve my self and clear my own table It should be my choice who I tip and how much I want to give. Rant over thanks for reading."
