All'antico Frantoio Gubbio

at the entrance of the beautiful and surprising foggy, there is this wonderful restaurant, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with great arches and very kind staff, typical dishes, abundant, suitable for families, but also for couples, highly recommended!

We went with three teenage boys and they really loved this place. It has a really Nice ambiance, looking very authentic and warm. We had arrived in Gubbio later than intended and were quickly looking for somewhere to get lunch. As it was very hot and this restaurant was both air-conditioned and busy we decided to give it a try. on advice from a local gentleman, we went to this restaurant. has two entrances: one outside the walls and one inside, to which you access through a metro (be careful of the small sign that indicates where to pass) the interior is really beautiful! friendly and helpful staff. I recommend the mixed appetizer of meat and cheese because it really deserves. we also took dumplings with white wild boar sauce and truffle calves in Parmesan crust. very nice and spacious local. It is an ancient mill that crosses the walls of eugubine, in fact the room has the main entrance out of the walls and right near the convenient parking of the Roman theater and another entrance directly from the center of the foggy. the kitchen is spectacular, typical Umbrian with a test of truffles and meat, but the strong piece is forgiving. we were literally pampered for two nights below, including our yorkshire dog that the second night (the eve of New Year) also found at the table a chair for her. When I saw how arriving diners, one after the other, would greet those already in the restaurant, I knew I had struck gold a place where local people go and the food is superb. Parking is easy, as the restaurant is over the road...from the Teatro Romano car park. I went for the fixed tourist menu for €20. I presumed there would be a service charge on top, but no, it really was €20. I also presumed that this cheapy option would come with small portions, but no, there was so much excellent food I had to tell the waiter not to bring the last dishes as I was full! You have to step down into the basement to enter All‘ Antico Frantoio. it is located in a cellar under a vaulted brick and stone ceiling. It is pretty large but was almost full on a Tuesday around lunch time, so reservations may be a...good idea if you want to go there at peak weekend times. The service was friendly and efficient. We tried the Frittata Tartufo which is essentially an egg omelette covered with small shavings of black truffle. The amount of truffle was rather limited and dressed up by adding pieces of dried mushrooms to make the truffle look larger but one could nevertheless smell the truffle odor.
