"I had lunch at this restaurant a few days ago and had a pleasant experience. The service was excellent and the food was mostly good. The pork cheek and red cabbage starter was delicious, as was the chicken liver parfait. The main dish of roasted cod with Hispi cabbage and seafood sauce was also very flavorful, with well-balanced seasoning. Unfortunately, the desserts did not meet the same standard. They were not too sweet, which was a positive, but the flavors fell short. The coffee and rum poached pear lacked flavor, but the accompanying sorbet and granola added some much-needed taste. The apple eclair with painted milk ice cream was slightly better, but the eclair was dry and the overall taste was underwhelming. The ice cream, however, was delicious. In general, we enjoyed our meal. The main courses were well-seasoned and tasty, but the desserts were disappointing. Despite this, we would still consider returning due to the good service. Thank you."

Meal was of good quality and well presented. Service could have been a bit faster, but all employees were polite and helpful. Pretty expensive

We went for Sunday lunch today and, as always, it was fantastic. The food was delicious and faultless. The service was top-notch, though the waitress may have cost me £30 with her Gin-Ting drink recommendation, as my partner absolutely loved it.

We are local and haven’t been here for a while and don’t know why! Surroundings were lovely and perfectly kept (so many places have cut back on this in the currant climate! staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. I had the...nicest steak I had ever eaten out and the pork and apple scotch egg was fab! Going back for the bar menu next week! Lovely!

We had a great time at this restaurant. The food was high quality and the service was excellent. They have a nice bar where you can enjoy a drink before or after your meal. The atmosphere is very relaxed, perfect for catching up with family over dinner. It was great to not feel rushed at our table. The menu offers a variety of interesting choices and everything we tried was delicious. Speisekarte ansehen

I was very impressed with the service within 5 minutes I was sat with a drink on my table which is always a great start. The staff were very friendly and chatty and seemed genuine. We opted for the Sunday dinner beef roast which was...very nice and was delicious. The desserts were gorgeous too. Overall the whole experience was to a very high standard and will definitely visit again. Well done to the staff you deserve high praise.

Attia and his team have the ability to make their customers feel like family. There is always such warmth in their welcome. We had Sunday lunch on this occasion and it was something else. Every course was absolutely delicious and a real treat. I love dining...at Fairlawns and we chose this to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday as only a place as special as Fairlawns would guarantee to deliver the best experience. It certainly didn't disappoint and never does.

I had a voucher for Fairlawns and my family (daughter, sister and niece and I) had a relaxing lunch and afternoon tea at the restaurant. The hotel provided nutritional needs and provided sourdough open sandwiches for one of our parties that were delicious....No lacto-free milk unfortunately (which would have made the afternoon tea exceptional). I still price 5 stars, but the quality of the food was perfect. We couldn't eat everything and the hotel offers perfectly dimensioned single boxes to take food you don't have space for. The only cake I would leave out was the ingrown red, but the rest of the cakes and odours we are beautifully baked and presented. The waitresses were so polite, friend...

My wife and I had invited friends for Lunch and Coffee at Restaurant/Bar 178 on Thursday. We have never visited The Fairlawns Hotel before which to be perfectly honest proved to be a major mistake ! The service received from all of the staff exceeded...our expectations. They were all without exception extremely friendly, polite very accommodating. This kind of service is not generally on display at any restaurants we have recently visited in the UK. The Lunch Club Supper Menu we found to be good value, beautifully presented and delicious. Full marks to the chef and his team particularly the scrumptious Sticky Toffee Pudding. We should also mention that the Covid 19 protocols were first class...

"This was our first visit. I have to remind myself that this is a training environment for students but there should be someone in charge, who is identifiable to direct the students on how to present a menu and how to place a dish in front of customers. However, four courses for £35, amuse bouche counted for one course. Amouse bouche lacked any seasoning, orzo starter, well cooked but again lacked seasoning. My wife had fish, Coley, which was nice. I had chicken breast on a bed of curry sauce with hassleback potatoes. My whole dish was luke warm at best, the curry sauce was overpowering, and the hassleback potatoes were not crispy. The chicken was lovely and moist and I ordered a side of triple cooked chips which were super hot, expensive at £4, I only wish the rest of my dish was that hot. I had cheese and biscuits which consisted of Brie, blue cheese and cheddar together with chutney. My wife had Pain Perdue which was well presented and tasty. The restaurant is more like a cafe, not cosy, so don't choose it if you want a romantic evening. Overall would I go again? probably not. If you are ever near the Lake district try to book a table in the restaurant at Kendal College. On a final note; there is parking on an evening next to the college. Drive up to the barrier and press the call button, security will let you in. The barrier opens automatically on exit."
