"Went for my birthday 09/04/22 and had a lovely time whilst there. The food was wonderful, atmosphere great and what would seem a very attentive server. We paid our bill left a £12 tip and went home. Around an hour after getting home we received a phone call from our waiter (a young man from America) saying that we had not paid. My partner who had the receipt saying authorised insisted that we had paid and also checked his mobile banking to which the amount had come out. The waiter was still insistent that we hadn’t paid. The manager then spoke to my partner and he apologised, saying that we had paid and that he shouldn’t have rung us. It would have been 5* but in the evening of my birthday getting repeatedly accused of theft puts a real downer on it. To get a phone call from the restaurant when we were trying to enjoy the last few hours of our evening (it was around 10:30pm). As a server myself I would never dream of ringing the customer without concrete proof that they hadn’t paid. To which he mustn’t of had as we had in fact paid. I had such a lovely time at the restaurant it was just a shame about the call."

The restaurant has a lovely decor and atmosphere. They offer at least one vegan option on both their brunch and dinner menus. The staff is friendly and the drinks are great!

morning in Maida Hill would not be complete without a visit to Les Douceurs de la Tentation. This charming bakery is undoubtedly the top choice for a delicious French or English breakfast.

very disappointed by becketts last night. engaged my instincts to stop the best steak-sharing plate around for weeks and they stopped doing steaks quite completely! eating that we had was ok instead, but the sharing plate is what everyone goes there from earlier experience. please sort becketts.

we came here for our high-day meal 1 year and it was amazing! we had the best time! the food was cooked to perfection, the drinks were great, the staff was so friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was so beautiful and the place looks so beautiful, really modern and clean. will definitely come back when we are back in portsmouth.
