"Cafe du Tailleur is a classic French cafe-bistro that we've visited two days in a row. The space is lovely, modest, and the kind of place we found easily in France through the years, but is now becoming more difficult to locate. Most important, the...food is great. The lamb brochettes were terrific perfectly cooked, the delicious cold tomato soup (gazpacho in our part of the world) had a small bit of cream added and thin-sliced ham on top, the sauteed potatoes were out of this world. On day two we came back to try the brouillade (fundamentally, scrambled eggs with truffle oil and garnished with truffles) and were blown away by the flavor. The salade Nicoise was light and full of all the ingredients that make it such a great dish. To top off the meal, our server, Alex, was charming, English fluent, and extremely helpful. We're going to drop by tomorrow morning for a good-bye croissant. We'll be back."

Excellent place. We came late for lunch but they made us food and a good dessert. Very good service and I really recommend it.

We found this bistrot by chance and entered for a simple cappuccino which soon became a cheese/cold meat assiette and finally gnocchi with Gorgonzola. No words can explain how good, tasty and genuine was the food, especially recommended the assiette, I just remember eating in...complete awe. Lovely place and atmosphere. Highly highly recommended, don’t miss it!

We actually stop there just for a coffee but after seeing a couple of plates on the other people table we decided to have lunch here : Everything was perfect, perfectly cooked squids, the seasoning of the lamb was excellent and the desserts were just...too pretty. The menu main course+dessert was at euros which is very cheap considering that everything was super fresh and homemade.

We passed the restaurant several times on the way to the Old Port and liked the look of it. Small, quaint and very French. First stop was for a brunch, food very fresh and staff were very friendly. We saw the evening menu and popped...in to ask and ensure we were happy with our French translations. Not an extensive menu but a good selection of meat and fish and good wine, all at a reasonable price. Food was execellent, staff very friendly. Recommended.

I popped in here the other day for some lunch, tempted by the clam linguine. The waitress who served me was very friendly and welcoming despite it being closing time for their lunch service. Inside it feels like a traditional little French bistro with bench...seats and dark lighting. The pasta was good and the clams were delicious. It came with a simple lettuce salad and some bread which were both nice accompaniments. If you are after a place with tasty simple food, this is a great little spot

Nice ambience. The room is comfortably old style with gorgeous wood panelling. Tables are well spaced apart for privacy. For entrée I had the traditional ravioli de Royens, perfect! And my wife had oysters (for only For mains I had the rognons de...veau in a mustard sauce, very tasty and perfectly cooked accompanied by a beautiful potato puree. Even better was my wife's main of Blanquette de Lotte (Monkfish), large portion, perfectly cooked and accompanied by vegetables. A nice bottle of Bordeaux wine at (several less expensive wines) and our total bill for entrees, plats, and the wine, was Excellent value. We will return.

We were told by a couple of friends that we had to stop to eat at Café du tailleur before leaving Marseille. I need to thank them because it was indeed a very nice evening there! Classy place, excellent main course (I cant remember the...name of the stuffs we had but the waitresses there were kind enough to spend a long moment to explain us what these french names meant : Excellent dessert.......and everything at a very reasonnable price! something like for main course, dessert and a bottle of wine called les Amouriers, excellent! (this I can remember) I highly recommend to stop there if you are in Marseille and want some genuine french food

Once upon a time, it was easy to find a place like this in France. Now, not so much. We were directed here by another restauranteur. Very generous of him. We've had dinner the twice. Just as good the second time as the first. Small,...traditional menu with more than reasonable prices plus a few daily specials. The chef definitely has a way with fish, delicious, imaginative preparation and pressntation without being over the top. Service is friendly, casual but efficient. Well priced wine list, including several house wines to choose from, even less expensive. We've never managed dessert as portions are very satisfying. Both nights we were here, it wasn't busy. Nice for us as it was a relaxin...
