"We arrived for our, at least once a week trip out to Hilliers and the Pine cafe, and were very surprised and disappointed to find that dogs are no longer allowed in the cafe. No reason was given. We were told we could sit out in the small covered area, but as it was rather chilly,we cancelled our order and went home for a drink in the warm. Come the warmer weather the outside area will soon fill up leaving no where for loyal customers and there dogs to sit. The cafe has been massively enlarged hope they manage to fill it,as just today in the short time we were there four other dog owners were discussing other more welcoming places to visit."

I am surprised that in the year 2020, with the increasing popularity of Veganism, there are no Vegan options available at Hilliers. They need to improve their menu or they will fall behind.

We arrived about 3:30 needing lunch, staff very helpful in finding us a lunch menu from which we both selected salads. One pork pie and one coronation chicken these arrived quickly and were of good quality ingredients. Very tasty.

The Pine cafe is not as good as the previous layout. Also the food is expensive, but that is often the case when there is no comptition nearby. Two slices of toast and butter and jam costing £2.99 and add a hot drink to that is very expensive. Eleswhere you can get a very good cooked breakfast for less.

We like the new cafe and have visited on many previous occasions. Even though the service is very slow we have always thought the coffee and food was worth waiting for, but not today. We were informed that they had 'run out ' of skimmed milk, so we had no choice but to leave without having coffee etc. Come on Hilliers get your act together, how can you run out of milk?? We called into Hilliers on Sunday 27th Oct 2019 to have a wander round and enjoy a pot of tea and cake for two. Imagine our disappointment to be told that although dogs are still allowed in the shop area they are NO longer allowed inside the Cafe. We could, however, sit outside! This is a new policy as we have enjoyed several visits with our dog. How short sighted and disappointing. Won’t be visiting again.

Met up with a friend here for breakfast, arrived around 9.30, we both ordered the hilliers British breakfast, unfortunately it was nothing special, not freshly cooked, bacon was dried up, beans reheated and dry, most of it was cold, staff were friendly but for £10 you need to improve, I’ve been to other garden centres for breakfast and they were vastly superior to this, all freshly cooked, have given 3 stars for the staff and it was clean.

The Pine Cafe is situated within the Hillier Garden Centre, offering both indoor and outdoor seating (some of which is covered). During our visit, we enjoyed tea and cake, which was delicious and featured a wide variety of options. The main meals looked appetizing, as evidenced by the empty plates returned to the kitchen. The staff was efficient, friendly, and engaging, and the establishment was clean and well-maintained. Tables were regularly cleaned and spaced out for customer safety. Speisekarte ansehen

As we live locally we have visited Hillier's Pine Cafe many times but we do not like the new layout as much. The seating area now is more like a canteen with tables in rows. Also the seating area we liked the best with the plants round it is now much smaller and too near where the people who queue up for coffees, cakes, scones etc. The food is still good and we will still be coming but not so often. It's a shame as it had potential and more could have been made of it. Most of the staff are friendly and helpful.

I made a reservation for a holiday themed afternoon tea at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we received a warm welcome and were escorted to our table. To my surprise, everything was already set up for us. A friendly staff member served us our tea, along with Buck's Fizz, sandwiches, scones, and cakes. My only complaint would be that everything was too cold - the scones were hard and the sandwiches would have been better at room temperature. Despite this, it was great value for money and a fantastic way to kick off the Christmas season. Booking online was easy and convenient, and we were able to pay when we arrived.

"The last time I visited this restaurant was 6 years ago, it WAS a real hidden gem. When I walked in this evening nothing had changed and I was hoping the food would be just as good as I remembered. Service was slow which surprised us as it was a Sunday night and pretty empty. We were given some olives while we ordered (the nicest part of the meal unfortunately). My boyfriend ordered the garlic focaccia with caramelised onion; the bits that had cheese and onion on were very tasty but this was only about 30% of the focaccia, the rest of the bread was over cooked and bland. I ordered bruschetta which was completely underwhelming. 4 small pre sliced bits of stale bread, some chopped up soft tomato and pesto with rocket in the centre. I could have made this at home. For mains I ordered what I always used to have, linguine alla marinara. The portion of pasta was decent, however I only counted 6 pieces of seafood and one large prawn on the top. The menu states it also comes with tomato’s which there were none of. The flavour tasted like buttery pasta with a hint of garlic, again completely underwhelming. My boyfriend ordered spaghetti meatballs. A large portion but completely inedible as it was absolutely disgusting. The sauce tasted like pure tomato purée, so lumpy and stodgy and the meatballs were like nothing we had ever tasted, VILE. We decided to bring the rest of the portion home for my mum (a head chef) to try. We wanted to know what she thought the flavour was as we were confused as to how you can make a meatball taste so vulgar! She spat it out immediately saying it tasted like it had either been cooked in or made with rancid/old fat. The cherry on the top for us was when we asked for the bill. We were given the generic boiled sweets that come with it. 2 of the boiled sweets were in wrappers however there was a third that stuck them all together that was half chewed, out of it’s wrapper. The place was COVERED in cobwebs, decor completely outdated with many flashing lights, menu pages stuck together and stank, looked like they had many a drink spilt over them and not once changed. Don’t even get me started on the toilets! We cleaned our own cutlery it was so filthy and swapped side plates with an empty table next to us as ours had food still on them. Left feeling completely disappointed and are both now suffering with major trumps. Will not be returning again!"

"We had a voucher for a sparkling tea. Reassured by their website that pronounced their covid measurs were above government guidelines I allayed my 93 year olds Mums fear about going. We were able to sit outside which was of much covid reassurance to Mum...And all was well in this wonderful place which Mum pronounced to be 'the real macoy '...they even catered very impressively for my vegan diet...all was well until we paid in the reception lounge. Mum had thought we would not need to hand over our gift card as they had already got our details when we booked on the phone, but not so...she wore her mask, I was lulled into a false sense of security and destracted that Mums very poor hearing meant she had not heard and was about to walk out the door in her unstable on her feet way, as I handed the voucher over minus my mask to the unmasked young man. Mum observed no one in the lounge was wearing a mask, and the young man got very close to me. I do think this is indefensible. Today the government has changed their rules so today they would all have to be wearing their masks, but surely it 's good sense. On reflection I noted our two waitresses were walking pretty close to ' each other too. Most of the clientele seemed to be over 60...surely they have a duty of care. When i check trip advisor for much humbler eating places, alot have staff wearing masks before the government told them they must...WHY NOT HERE!? I did phone them today..I was told staff do get a temperature screen every day ...but that is only an indication. I was impressed they had hands free alcohol gel dispensers, they took our details, wiped our tables and others every hour and after someone has dined. Its a wonderful place which has let itself down."
