"Thoroughly disappointing! We booked at the hotel because there was a nice restaurant attached. We booked a table, when we checked in at 2pm we had our table booking confirmed for 6.30pm. Upon arrival to the restaurant it was all in darkness, a member of staff came to tell us it was closed after an emergency that had happened this morning and we could sit in the bar. The only tables available in the bar were low ones with big lounge chairs..not the seating for a meal! We don't go out very often so was planning on going all out with this meal, 3 courses, wine etc. Not at a lounge chair though. No one told us about the change to our booking. No one had reserved us a table in the bar. I went to reception desk where I was met with a very hostile member of staff who merely shrugged when I asked why no one had let us know about our booking. He didn't care. I felt really sad as like I said, going out is a rarity for us, and we were really looking forward to having a nice romantic dinner. Because of the lack of interest, and suitable seating we decided to get an Uber Eats delivered and had it in our room. Awful service. I presume the same kitchen produces the breakfasts in the morning.. which was delivered to our room over an hour late and stone cold. Such a shame as the location is stunning. Customer service needs work."

we were in hotel spires and that was a pleasant choice for dinner. the food was good and the service was also very attentive. a good choice

Vegan options limited 1 option for starter, 2 for main, 1 for dessert. Main food portion was incredibly small for the price, and not particularly inventive. Vegan options need an overhaul in my opinion. In comparison to a 100% vegan restaurant I visited the week before, this was poor.

When i booked for lunch, no where did i read the restaurant didnt open until 17 30hrs,spoilt a 70th Birthday,plus had to pay £5 to park my car,only salvation was the staff were very good. The bar menu only consisted o four choices,the menu was from a printer, with the end word and price missing!

we were disappointed in the dinner service. we had asked for olives to start with our preordered drinks. the waitress took all the order that contained a bottle of wine to have with our food. everything came together without our cry we had to wait for. we thought it was too eager and not relaxing. the personal has put my request to a seat.

The restaurant was clean and spacious but lacked atmosphere and privacy it was too open. I had the beef feather blade and it was chewy, the dinner was a very small portion and overall wasn’t good value for money, I recommend diners walk 10 mins down the road to the Duke of Monmouth pub where they will get much better choice quality and value.

When we first arrived the staff we first spoke to had no idea what we were talking about when we said we had a table booked. They had to call a supervisor who after arriving directed us to sit in an area next to the hotel reception which was crowded and had a film crew there filming something. We ordered our food at the bar. When our food arrived, we were so surprised by the poor quality of the food, it was literally tasteless. All three of us were unable to finish the food and we are not fussy eaters. We then decided to leave. I went to the bar to pay and there was no staff.
