Deroka - Speisekarte

First time visit and did not regret! A post Christmas lunch, lovely cosy atmosphere, attentive service and great food! Chicken and a veg güveç. Çok güzel! Will return soon

What a lovely friendly restaurant, delicious food amazing service from friendly owners and staff, food was fresh and presentation was excellent, definitely on my to go to list and would advise all to go and enjoy the Deroka.

Had a really lovely and long lunch here a few days ago. Was made to feel very welcome by the owner who was particularly knowledgeable about the various wines. Our steaks were so delicious and tender and the starters were top notch too. Will definitely be going back soon. Speisekarte ansehen

Visited Hitchin for a weekend and walked into this gorgeous restaurant. Lucky to get a table! Well I love a mixed grill kebab and this was fabulous. Tender yet grilled to perfection and transported me to the Mediterranean! Thank you to the host and staff. We will be back !

I hardly ever write reviews but Deroka were outstanding. We ordered a takeaway, the restaurant rang to apologise that part of the order hadn’t been collected, so they sent a second bike to deliver it and added a desert ‘on the House’. All the food was delicious, going the extra mile on service for a takeaway was special.

Location: close to Hitchin market square in Sun street Atmosphere: slightly dark and has a little of a cave feeling Service: the restaurant was empty and the showed no interest in delivering food and drinks in a rush. It was not what you hope for. Food drink: you get get what you pay for. Overall underwhelming experience and we will not hurry back. Sun street is packed with a lot of nice restaurants. You notice the lively though not overbearing vibe as soon as you walk in the door. It feels convivial and upbeat but also relaxed. We took a table for 4 and enjoyed some delicious Turkish starters followed by more international fare for the main course (the menu has steaks etc in addition to Turkish grills and so on). Mine was very good (Aberdeen Angus fillet) and the service was impeccable. None of us live in Hitchin but next time we are in town we will be back.

I don’t usually take the time to write reviews, but this was honestly one of the best dining experiences and best food I have ever had in a restaurant. I know that’s a very grand statement, but it was honestly wonderful. Between my husband and I we had borek, Turkish sausage, mixed grill, the Deroka kofte (which was my favourite absolutely delicious), and a nice bottle of wine. The chap who was front of house (I think the owner) and the waitress were both really friendly and the service was attentive. We were asked if it was a special occasion I told him it was my birthday and he made us both a cocktail on the house. Will be back and would highly recommend.

Staff were friendly, although not very well presented, when we arrived our waiter (owner) had his shirt hanging out and covered in stains. Very quiet restaurant considering it was a bank holiday Friday and the rest of the town was buzzing. Our meal was pleasant, when we came to ask for the bill (very expensive bill) there was no one left in the restaurant, the waiting staff were no where to be found, we called out and nothing, I went to go check in the kitchen and the lights were all off, no staff and the kitchen was filthy. We eventually tracked down our waiter (owner) who was out the front chatting. We had been waiting 15 minutes with no one around. I would not go back. Speisekarte ansehen
