Dukes Head - Speisekarte

Good food and a selection of beers, an efficient and cordial service. Friday at noon was quiet, which does not help the environment, but is a little isolated, but there is a lot of parking.

Being a South African in the UK I had the temptation to try the Dukes for early dinner. It is not really a real gastro pub, but a place with a dining area next to the pub area where it seems more of the action.

A table reserved for a Sunday roast (8) for Mothering Sunday. I've never eaten here before despite being down the street. The food was a self-service buffet roasted (with all the details). I had the meat, it was amazing. Chef's portions. ..

On wednesdays to Saturdays until 9pm, the bar food e.g. scampi and chips is just over £5. I previously used the main restaurant and it is excellent, but if you can't afford to and just want a reasonably priced meal .... the bar food is good. Choice of 5 meals. Curiously not mentioned on pub's website. They should; it's a slightly different market

Visited on a Sunday, normal a la carte menu only available, however I believe they are reverting back to a Sunday Roast (only) effective 1st October. Good, varied, selection on the menu combined with attentive service. Very enjoyable experience all round. Will certainly be back soon. Would recommend as an informal venue but with good food service. Cost very reasonable.

We booked a table online for a group of us and from the start the service was excellent. I have various requests and when we arrived these were all ready and set up for us. Unfortunately I can not remember the name of our waitress but she was from Hungary and she was absolutely amazing. The food was fantastic and there was a good variety of options that one does not see in many other places in the UK.. I would highly recommend this place.

Having recently held a double family birthday celebration at the Dukes Head, we would certainly recommend it for its delicious food at reasonable prices. The South African dishes were very interesting to try and very much enjoyed by all. The wine list, although not extensive, was well priced and a South African red very much hit the mark and was good value. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable evening with attentive service, superb food and excellent wine. We shall return.

We arrived at this pleasant pub with a group of friends for the second time, the hope of asking for another of its fantastic rabo (very slow potjiekos homemade South African casserole/suffled, seasoned with spices and cooked in heating its own individual iron potenco.). The previous one I had was absolutely delicious, with generous portions of ox and a full savor sauce was amazing! Unfortunately, this time the rabo had ended the day and a new tanda were put to slow cooking. However there was a curry potjieko chicken one of our friends had and said it was delicious.

I'm trying to define this restaurant. . There is not much to do from the outside and can at first avoid it. But we risked. Restaurant clearly defined area that was practically empty, since it was at night, very early, the Lado pub was very full. After a lot of waiter explanation on the menu, we finally chose the bobotie (plate, an excellent choice as it turned out. A vague reminiscent of moussaka but a sweeter version more curry. Our Hungarian waitress was excellent in his explanations too much and we needed it. Obviously, burgers and steaks were also on the menu, as well as fish and chips, but the South African cooker was worth trying. The portions were large, there is not much on the path...
