"As we were staying in Chateau d'Urtubie and both of us enjoy a drink, then Laurant's brother's restaurant (five minute walk away) was the obvious place for us to try. We booked in advance but Laurant still called ahead for us to make sure we were confirmed. Please note that the walk involves a short (25 m?) section of a quite busy but unlit main road, just after a bend. Be very careful and take light/reflective clothing or a torch to warn the local drivers. It's not a section of road where pedestrians are expected to be, so they tend to be travelling quite quickly! The restaurant is as good as the reviews suggest though. Food and wine are both excellent, as is the service and ambience. We had the fillet de beouf for two. The serving was enormous and tasty. We asked for medium rare, forgetting that in France that tends to mean "blue"! That said it was beautifully cooked - perfectly sealed on the outside and blue in the middle. We couldn't eat it all, which is very unusual for us! The accompanying wine was excellent too. There is a set price menu of €32 for three courses for Chateau guests, but as the choice is limited we chose from the full menu. We had two courses plus a bottle of wine which came to €96 in total. This is one of the better restaurants, so the pricing is to be expected, and is reasonable for the quality of the food."

Sitting on the patio outside with glorious views was a pleasure in itself. The fixed menu offers a reasonably good variety of food which features fresh high quality ingredients well cooked and presented at a reasonable price

Could not have been happier. This was a five-star meal on a terrace with a splendid view of the countryside. The Hake was cooked perfectly. Hard to come up with enough superlatives for this meal in a part of France where food standards are very high.

We were disappointed. The welcome wasn't particularly warm. My food was ok but my wife's sole wasn't fresh and she hardly touched it. Given the quality of the place I would have thought this would prompt some interest from the woman proprietor but I think she was moe interested in the ladies sitting at the next table whom she clearly knew well.

Invited here by locals, we otherwise would never have found this hidden gem located in the countryside just outside of St. Jean de Luz. Tradtional Basque cooking with all dishes made with locally-sourced ingredients. We truly enjoyed the grilled chipirons, foie gras and a delicious duck main plate. The beautifully restored old farm features a fireplace - which warmed us up on an otherwise chilly, rainy evening. Wonderful souvenir of a truly Basque restaurant in a historic setting. We would never have found this, it was recommended by the owner of our chateau (next door). A quiet, cozy, friendly restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere the food was delicious. It was obviously popular for good reason, filled with locals and discerning tourists alike. There were 2 American guests p from Miami who return every year! The pork looked lovely and the beef was outstanding, the lemon dessert was divine. It was not cheap but it didn't raid the holiday wallet too badly. A MUST try.

We had beef rip and suckling pig. For Dessert we had Schokolade case and icecream between cake think (look for the only thing on the english menu which is not translated) 100 euros for a family is a Lot, but if the food is good... But it wasnt. Desserts were ok, but 9€ for a cake, for that!? The Kids menu was microwaved and from yesterday. The beef rip was Not tender. The sangria and red wine was nice. To much money for what you get. We usually pay 130 euro in 1 star Restaurants, we better spend our money There again.

We visited this restuarant twice during our one week stay in Urrugne as we enjoyed our first visit so much. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The set menu offered a choice of starters, main and desert at a very reasonable price for an evening meal of such high quality. The staff were attentive and the wine was reasonably priced. All in all we could say this is the best meal we have experienced in France in the eight years we have lived here. unless of course you are prepared to pay much higher prices. We certainly hope to visit again when we are next in this beautiful part of France. Speisekarte ansehen

We heard that one of the excellent chefs from another fine restaurant in St Jean de Luz had taken over this place (where we'd eaten in 2015) so we booked lunch. Delicious tomato and herb starter, then my favourite dish from the St J resto, the hake done on a mouth-melting risotto. No prob with either dish being gluten free, although only ice cream is available as dessert for GF diners. O.H had the Aquitaine blonde beef, which I thought was a bit rough of him, seeing as their relatives watched us from the neighbouring field!Shared a bottle of excellent Rioja red too. In Pays Basque, unlike many areas of France, you can get excellent Spanish wines. The views from our outside table were beautif...

We set off from the campsite on search of local restaurant. We found this gem and really enjoyed our evening. The setting was gorgeous. The food was an explosion of flavours. The meal started with a cold pea soup which was delicious. We had the tomato starter which was also a joy to eat . A celebration of tomato with a basil sorbet and beetroot gel. The main was ok. Beef with some baby vegetables ( a little too aldente and really not enough) the garlic purée was nice the Sauce ok. The desert of strawberry with cream and ice cream was delicious. As was the gingerbread biscuit crumb lovely Cheeses were also lovely. Wine selection good starting at about 18 euros . Very nice A lovely experience....
