"The menu looks good on paper, but in reality it has a way to go. I opted for the 5 bean vegan chilli with rice and tortilla chips and a black americano coffee. Coffee was OK but incredibly strong so had to ask fora jug of hot water. Veg chilli came very quickly but alas the chilli part was barely warm so I asked for it to be properly heated. When it came back it was still not really hot enough, but the rice was scalding and tortilla chips were rather darker at the edges than they had been. So the whole plate had been in the microwave; plate and rice pretty hot, chilli not! However i decided to risk it...and whilst it was clearly homemade and the flavour wasn 't bad...it was almost completely devoid of beans never mind the 5 varieties (I assume! that were being offered. I counted 7 chickpeas in the whole thing and so I did actually mention it to the waitress, who couldn 't quite believe it and said she 'd ask in the kitchen. However I was actually laughing (she wasn 't as i told her that this was quite funny as it has happened to me before in a different cafe that the 5 bean chili had literally 5 beans in it and so now it 's a family joke. Anyway, on paying the bill a different person asked if it had all been ok so I told her that I 'd mentioned the non- bean situation to my waitress, and so this new person did actually take a couple of quid off my bill, which i thanked her for. (the Mars Bar crispy cake was fine!"

I had a wonderful time shopping and enjoying coffee at the shop. Unfortunately, my experience was dampened by receiving a £40 fine for exceeding the time limit in the car park.

Upstairs in the Tiso outdoor shop, but managed separately I think. Interesting menu, large portions, well cooked, efficient and speedy service despite being busy, good value. A great place to stop on your way to Inverness and beyond.

Turned up Sunday lunchtime. Seated and served promptly, I opted for the all day breakfast, and my wife the pancakes with maple syrup and bacon. Ive seen a few people questioning the value, but can honestly say we thought it was good. Wasn’t a cheap breakfast, but was generous and good quality. Speisekarte ansehen

We have visited this cafe lots of times over the years but the standard is poor now. Food was very expensive and the plates were sparse. Cucumber slices in side salad were dry and going brown- poor quality produce. Soup was okay but lacking seasoning and love. It used to be a great cafe but standard are poor and cosy is high

I honestly can't think how Compass can improve. I've stopped here 3 or 4 times and the service is slways friendy and helpful. Today I chose the veggie breakfast which had a great mix of interesting food not just straightforward meat substitutes. It was served quickly and was piping hot. Thanks Compass, you really made my day

Every time we travel from the Highlands down south, we make sure to stop at this restaurant. The coffee is excellent, the scones are delicious, and the soup is hot and flavorful. A major highlight is the staff, particularly the Eastern European Manageress. They are accommodating and welcoming, providing service with a smile. We will definitely return next time we are in this area! Speisekarte ansehen

We usually make a pit stop at this restaurant for a quick bite to eat on our way back from the Highlands. We have been regulars for years, but recently we have noticed that the prices are increasing while the service is becoming inconsistent. The restrooms are not up to standard as they could be cleaner, and the water pressure at the sink needs to be addressed, as it was barely a trickle during our last visit.

We went here for breakfast and quite frankly we won’t go back. The lady who I think was in charge today made various sarcastic comments about our dog who is still quite young. We were shown to a table out of the way as she said you’ve got a dog. Fair enough. At one point she came to the table and he sat up and put a paw on the table and she said “training’s going well” . Another time when she appeared he sensed someone was at the table and he came out from lying down under the table and briefly hopped onto the bench seat beside my daughter. We immediately told him to get off which he did. A comment was made of “oh do you do that home?” We were always quick to correct him and he wasn’t a nuis...

"We stumbled across this place on the last night of a fortnight in Scotland and couldn 't be more glad that we did and that they had space. We were seated promptly (underneath the fan thankfully considering the heatwave), asked whether we 'd eaten there before (we hadn 't), had the menu explained to us (suggested 3 tapas per person) and then left alone briefly to consider the menu. Once ordered, drinks were delivered in a timely fashion, followed by breads dips to tempt tide us over until our tapas arrived. It wasn 't very quick, but I didn 't think it was unduly long either just the right length of time for non fast food that is being prepared freshly. And when it arrived, we were delighted as it was delicious! The only slight disappointment was that salted cod wasn 't available, but that was soon forgotten. My personal favourite was the poached chorizo in red wine with honey glaze, but we were happy with all of our options (patatas bravas, haggis balls, pinchas de pollo, spinach chickpea stew, haddock in red pepper sauce and Spanish tortilla the latter really made by the spicy tomato salsa on the side). 5 between the two of us would probably have sufficed, which would have meant I had space for one of the ice creams, but in hindsight, I 'm glad I didn 't. Excellent service, delicious food, our best meal of our holiday. We probably won 't be back (living in Birmingham and all) but definitely would if we were local."
