The Golden Lion - Speisekarte

The restaurant has a laid-back atmosphere and a clean environment. The food was beautifully presented and tasted amazing. I highly recommend this place as everything I tried was delicious.

The customer service was lacking from one staff member, however the food was great. Unfortunately, this one individual affected the overall experience. I have been a regular customer for some time, but I will have to reconsider returning in the future.

We ate here twice once in the main restaurant and then in Antonio’s. On both occasions the food was delicious, the service really good and the menu lots to choose from. They really tried hard to make all feel extra safe with the current situation. Thank you Speisekarte ansehen

For some reason the manager decided not to take part in the eat out to help out scheme which was some what annoying. 6 of us met for dinner 2 of us stayed in the hotel for one night. Hotel very nice and clean nothing negative to say. The food was quite mediocre nothing very special but the staff were very pleasant. Breafast was good with plenty to keep us going.

The margaritas were disappointing, lacking salt on the rim, especially considering the £8 price tag. The nachos were unappetizing and I couldn't even eat them. When I informed the waitress, there was no response. We used to frequent this restaurant before lockdown, and this was our first night out in a year. Unfortunately, this experience has deterred us from returning. The presentation of the nachos looked sloppy and it seemed like they were microwaved for too long.

The absolute best thing about the Golden Lion is the staff. We stayed there last week, arriving directly from hospital, having been involved in a crash in which we were both injured. The staff were really lovely, they made huge efforts to support us and seemed to genuinely care about how my wife was feeling. Our room was nice, the bathroom was really large. Meals in the restaurant were good quality and ample size. In short, everything about the3 hotel was good, except the staff they were all exceptional they were kind, caring and went out of their way to be helpful. Speisekarte ansehen

Our first Sunday Lunch out this year!An unplanned visit, we were staying in the area and after passing by and checked out the menu decided to eat out.We arrived at that ‘in between’ time c1645 to a very quiet restaurant (perfect in these Covid times) The restaurant was well organised from a Covid perspective. Good menu selection but we decided to opt for the special Sunday Lunch menu, which in itself had a great selection.It was excellent. Absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, generous portions. We were looked after by Mike who made us very comfortable and welcome.Will definitely visit again

Called with my wife and family for an 80th birthday lunch. The staff were very good showing us to our seats and getting drinks ordered. My wife had the ravioli , mum in law tagliatelle and myself the lamb Henry.My wifes ravioli was just a white flavourless mush, full of water, we sent that back,my lamb Henry was only a lamb shank and not shoulder, tasted ok but not what it should have been. Mum laws tagliatelle was really tasteless, similar to my wifes ravioli. I did complain to the waitress and hopefully this was taken forward with the chef. Sad really as we have dined here of many occasions and always found the food of a good standard. Maybe this just a post covid blip, I hope so.

After having difficulty finding somewhere to eat in Maryport we thought we had struck it lucky. There was a board outside advertising food, we went in and ordered drinks but when we asked fir the menu were told that food was on the other side but we could take our drinks with us. We were then stopped by two different members of staff who told us that we could not take drinks through but as we had already been told we could they would 'allow ' us to. The menu looked delicious but the waiter and waitress who served us were clearly not happy in thier work. One managed a little smile but the other was not a happy bunny.
