I had a fantastic lunch at The Great Oak. The quiche and three salads for £9.95 is a great deal and the quality is top-notch. I always enjoy stopping here when traveling through mid-Wales.

We had ana amazing vegetarian curry an onion bhaji, with 3 Salads a pot if tea. It was all amazing and feeling very full. The service is always very friendly the restaurant always looks clean tidy. Speisekarte ansehen

Love the food here, and love that much of it is vegan. Really tasty salads selection, also warm options, the menu changes depending on what they have made that day. I wanted everything! Had a really nice homemade burger and salad. Nice courtyard garden out the back for a hot day. Wish we could visit more often (was on holiday).

I visited a vegan café as a non-vegan, and while I had no issue with that, I did expect a good experience. I ordered a hot chocolate and a scone, but unfortunately the scone was extremely dry and crumbled when I tried to cut it. There was hardly any butter and jam provided, barely enough for half of the scone. I attempted to alert a staff member, but noticed a sign apologizing for the staff being in training. It was disappointing.

I was thrilled to discover this fantastic vegetarian cafe in the heart of Wales. The sweet potato and leek soup I ordered was one of the best soups I have ever tasted. The flavor, texture, and seasoning were all perfect. The quiche and salad were also exceptional. The garden in the back of the cafe is spacious and beautiful. Although I was slightly disappointed with the cappuccino, as it lacked in flavor, overall it was a very enjoyable experience. I would rate it 5 stars. Speisekarte ansehen

I always try to stop at Great Oak Cafe when I pass through Llanidloes. The salads are healthy and fresh, the specials are homey and nourishing, the cakes are luscious and the coffee is really world-class. But the last few times I've tried to visit there didn't seem to be enough staff to keep up with demand. The staff are friendly and hard-working, but there aren't enough of them, and long queues develop. Sometimes I find myself unable to wait and sadly have to go elsewhere.

We visited here on our way through from North Wales and were so saddened to hear it's closing it's doors as of tomorrow for the foreseeable future. I have rarely visited such a warm, welcoming and homely cafe as this. The delicious coffee, the board games on the shelf, the perfectly seasoned vegan sausage rolls, the squishy cushions by the window where locals perch and wax lyrical about this amazing hub of the community. If local feeling is anything to go by this gem of a cafe won't be shut for long, and when it reopens we'll be back and waiting in the queue!

Nice holiday lunch for a family of non-vegetarians. This friendly and casual place is a Llanidloes institution and from its 'hippy ' inceptions 40 or 50 years ago, it 's become all very mainstream nowadays. Some 1970s quirks remain, though, like the bullet-proof, no doubt wholemeal pastry used for the quiche, but whose filling was delicious. Baked potato, like the quiche, was accompanied by three interesting salads of choice. Less appreciated were the pure-plant vegan burgers which were reported as very dry. Good if slightly erratic service but all very friendly and relaxed as you might expect. Very nice tea. Speisekarte ansehen
