"We were fortunate to go to Ha Long in Victoria St, Richmond with Vietnamese speaking regulars, who introduced us to some great dishes in this authentic, family run restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. The roast quail and the beef wrapped in vine leaves were a treat but everything we tried was excellent, including deep fried fish and several salads. The restaurant is BYO, which we took advantage of by bringing some well-aged fine wine which was well handled by the staff and which completed the great food very well. We have already made two return visits and look forward to taking more friends and visitors in future."

Just returned from HCMC and food bears no resemblance. More like Chinese though service was good. Probably won't return

Lots of options, no fuss, low key, reliable and always tasty. A good sign that there are few Westerners eating here as well. Salt and pepper squid a favourite, and the entrees are all fabulous.

Going down Victoria St and picking a good Vietnamese restaurant is not easy, so we opted for one that was really busy and we only just managed to get a table for 2 on Saturday night. Well worth it this is a good quality and authentic Vietnamese restaurant, with good service and affordable prices.

We had lunch at Ha Long yesterday and it was excellent! We loved the rice paper rolls. One serving has 4 rolls with a delicious sauce! The pork noodle dish was also very good, with plenty of pork and crisp salad leaves. On the table is a thermos can with tea. The restaurant serves alcohol and is BYO! We will certainly be back to try some more dishes.

This restaurant has a wide selection of authentic Vietnamese dishes and are not expensive. We came back to this place whenever we were in Melbourne and the quality of the foods and services were always good and have not changed during the last six years. It was quite crowded with the locals so you need to book in advance. It is also difficult to find a car parking on Victoria street.

Large very stylish restaurant with a well-stocked bar and large menu. We were introduced by our best friends who love dining here and leave it to the head waiter to combine a mixed range of dishes for us. This included whitebait and mini spring roll entrees, 4 mains of prawns, chicken, beef and pork dishes with mixed vegetable, and lychees and banana ice-cream desserts. Their beer and wine range is excellent. They also do a happy birthday presentation with sparklers to embarass the birthday boy!!

We had the most wonderful Vietnamese duck soup and then vermicelli with pork and spring roll dishes for lunch two days in a row. We then took our son out for dinner there and the food was Chinese in style and did not taste fresh. The duck dish was very dry and you could tell had been cooked and reheated, the stir fry vegetable had stale tofu in it and the favours did not resemble Vietnamese cooking at all. It's as though there are two chefs running the restaurant for lunch and dinner. Recommend for lunch but NOT dinner.

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items. The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."
