"this three-storey building is where three of our favorite restaurants of plymouth have been operating on different floors for up to twenty years more or less. it seems that everything is closed. first: the noodle lounge on the top floor is closed between... one and two years when mike the excellent Chinese cook was taken very seriously ill. Finally, the NL menu was successfully integrated into the Hakka selection in the first floor. then withte januar was announced that the sublime and successful goto Japanese restaurant on the midst floor would have to close the days later, because it was renter refused to renew his lease contract. it was closed, although it says chef chef owner, he is determined to open somewhere else asap. tonight we came to the building to eat in hakka, only to find the whole place locked and in the darkness, all the signs turned off and the outside menu is all lit. no information or references indicating that the situation is temporary. it's a great scandal and we sincerely hope that goto will soon appear somewhere. what hakka, sad, recently it was cutting its staff numbers and service from the kitchen was slowed down. we hope everything is not as grim as it looks."

All the dishes we selected were really tasty and the service was great. We'd chosen the restaurant based on Tripadvisor reviews and were not disappointed. As a starter we were offered minced chicken in lettuce leaves- excellent; but can't understand why it's not on the...menu. Speisekarte ansehen

we expected decent Chinese food, but what we got was actually a part of the tenderest dimming amount we had ever eaten. combined with the incredibly polite and attentive service, it was quite a sound. we came back two days later and it was just as good. will certainly hakka many more paints, a real gem.

Chinese cuisine. flavours are on the site. a great table Chinese men also strangles how legit is the place. a impeccable service of waiting staff. Seriously- if they come hungry, make sure to order a hospitable for everyone, it will not be left. the dessert-dampballs were the bomb. I never had them before and was very happy of everything about them- texture, package, taste (not too sweet.) they will be a bit after a dinner, so I would share that.

We enjoy eating here, especially now that the old Noodle Lounge menu has been incorporated but we do find that turning up at short notice and finding the place unexpectedly shut is inconvenient and a bit sad. As with last night Fortunately the immediate...proximity of the excellent and associated Goto Japanese restaurant on the same floor of the building often provides a first rate alternative. Perhaps the management could find a way of making day to day closing and the long term closure of the Noodle Lounge clear to the interested passing public by adjusting or constantly updating the signage by the street level entrance so that we and others could avoid the walk up the stairs. We always enjoy the food here and we came in over Xmas/New Year. The food was wonderful large mains with a large dish of Singapore noodles, beers and tea, ample for two, less than total. Only problem, just one person greeting, clearing...tables, seating, taking orders, sorting drinks, laying table, serving everything, so mins from walking in (without a reservation and to full restaurant) and at the end a wait for the table to be cleared and the same to get the bill. That one person tonight was working hard and fast throughout. No fault of theirs! These are strange times in Plymouth with cafes and restaurants coming and going like the tide but not having a mechanism for prompt service, even o...

Did some homework as we were visiting a friend and had always visited a different restaurant for our obligatory Chinese but the reviews recently were not good. So we plumped for Hakka what a great decision that was ! We were well received by...the efficient, friendly and attentive Carol and ordered drinks and our starters which was a sharer fresh and well presented. Our mains were excellent too especially the Chef's special lamb which was succulent and very tasty. The Beef and Chicken dishes were equally tasty and the accompanying Singapore noodles and rice created a nice balance. Light desserts were the order of the day for me and my mate and we shared sorbet and ice cream. A lovely evening...

"Visited on a busy Saturday evening. General impression is the restaurant is clean, well presented and evidently well liked for how many people were in the small dining area. A little noisy, particularly in the confined space beside the kitchen, when seated close beside a louder table. As the evening progressed, we felt quite cold not sure if the heating was on? Service from the staff was outstanding, very friendly, polite, attentive, but food was slow to arrive. We were a little perplexed by having the appetiser on the table before our starter/main order had been taken, so having to work around still having the menus. The smoked butter was very strong my partner liked it, it was too much for me. Both fish starters were good, with the mackerel our favourite. The main courses were OK. The lamb was fine, but served with lamb fat root veg meant the whole plate was very similar flavoured, and the green beans/salsa verde felt like an afterthought. The skate wing was nice, and the crispy capers were a new and pleasant experience. The desserts rescued the food for me the creme brulée was outstanding, and the chocolate special was very good, with exception of a slightly chewy meringue. I feel I'm being picky with my criticisms, but fig tree is definitely priced higher than other more standard fare restaurants in Plymouth where we have also had very good food."
