beautiful pub. great food and great service. really comfortable for young children and great choice, as they can choose a small part from the main menu. in any case recommend.

Beautiful old character pub, a lovely buzzing atmosphere for a Sunday evening. Staff attentive and friendly. Food was exceptional, the Sunday Roast and the Hake Fillet Special are both a must try.

What a charming spot! The owner and staff were so friendly and welcoming. The food was scrumptious and made with fresh ingredients, all for a great price. I will definitely be coming back for lunch again.

We use this place often, very friendly staff who do their best to accommodate the customers. Dog friendly and the food is a cut above the normal pub fare. Extensive seating area outside, good parking, what's not to like?

Lovely staff and owner, we were made to feel very welcome as a family. Very busy but still really quick service and food was delicious proper home cooked hearty meals, we cleared our plates. Will 100% return soon to try the Sunday dinner...

Had a lovely Sunday meal , roast beef dinner and lamb dinner delicious. Fish n chips very tasty and burger very good . Service is excellent all staff are very attentive and polite and work really hard. Quality of food is excellent, we will return.

A really nice dining experience. Great food, great welcome, good beer on offer and in a great location by the canal. Waiters/waitresses very helpful and efficient. Landlord Martin took the trouble to come down and enquire if everything was to our satisfaction it was. Recommended.

that was my first meal in the hand and dagger in a few years and must say how delicious it was, the bark was nicely cooked and the whole sweet was my absolute favorite and it was the best yorkshire pudding that I have eaten for a long time! recommend the ingwerschwamm for the desert....devine! my friend and I enjoyed it very much. booking is a must, as it is so busy and really so! Many thanks, we will definitely come back.

It not far from where we live in cottam and have passed it a few times and always said we should try it out. So today we did, only wish we had tried it sooner. There was a great atmosphere as we walked in and the service was even better. The whole team worked well toghter taking orders bringing drinks over and the meals etc, nothing was too much for them. We had 3 children with us and rather then having a separate children's menu, they chose off the main menu and they would get a child size portion of the meal. This meant there was far more choice for the kids then the normal nuggets, fish fingers and pizza etc. The food was really good and well presented. Certainly did not expect the level...
