"We had been looking forward to visiting the restaurant for weeks as we were visiting Shrewsbury for Easter weekend and had booked well in advance. The building is beautiful and decor inside is plush. Sadly it seemed as though there had been an attempt to...keep the food warm for some time resulting in tough, overcooked potatoes and meat. The vegetables had to be sent back as they were cold. My husband and Mother did not eat their meals as they were also cold. The front of house staff were wonderful and did their best to deal with the issues but our whole experience was a complete let down and 2 of our party left the restaurant still hungry."

Love the ambiance hear, candles lit on all tables. Very good service especially by young man welcoming customers. Fish was very good but chips a bit chunky for me. Pie also excellent if a bit on the small side. Good choice of beer. We hope...it's as good when Joules take over

My wife and I visited for a live gig and had a meal beforehand. The reception was very warm and welcoming and the food choice was great. The meal was of a really high standard (as was those served around us). William was very attentive...along with all the other staff. We were well informed of the gig arrangements (doors open etc) and the whole experience was fabulous.

my friend and I visited shrewsbury yesterday and had lunch in the winter garden this beautiful restaurant. the decoration is amazing. we had the pancake, maic and veg. we both agreed that it was the best cake we ever had. the personal we love, very attentive and funny. we eat there at the next visit every case again, I want to say we try something else, but I know it will be the cake again!

Superb food and service were excellent credit to henry tudor house owners...but feel they should tell people about the stairs.as people with mobility problems will like me them difficult..but otherwise great small venue..but if l known bout the stairs l would have book to watch...the artist, where they were mobility friendly .but for people with NO mobility issues Henry Tudor House is a great place for intimate gigs or a romantic meal

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
