"We arrived at the restaurant at 6.50 in the evening for dinner and the chap in reception appeared totally uninterested. When we asked for a table he informed us that the restaurant didn't open until 7pm. We would have expected to be asked if we would like a drink and the menu whilst we waited - but he simply turned his back and pretended to be involved doing something at the rear of the bar. Because of the delightful setting of the restaurant - overlooking the beach at Le Racou - we decided to wait the ten minutes until the restaurant opened. We were shown to a table and discovered that there were already a few clients seated. A young waitress brought the menu and, after an unacceptable wait, the drinks arrived. With hindsight we should have left at that point, but we persevered. The restaurant had now become quite busy, and many others who had arrived much later than us were being served food, whilst we thought that our order had been lost. To make the situation worse, we were close to a very noisy party who had four children running all around the restaurant, and annoying most of the other diners from the looks on their faces! The food eventually arrived and it was ok, until I discovered a grub in the middle of it. I asked the waitress to explain and she disappeared for a few minutes before returning and explaining that it must have dropped out of one of the trees. I asked her if they often dropped out of the trees covered in a blue cheese sauce, and clearly this was beyond her comprehension. The evening was a total disaster, not helped by the attitude of the staff. All I would add is that if you decide to eat at this restaurant, please make sure you do not sit under the trees which cover the outdoor terrace - particularly the blue-cheese sauce tree!!"

Although we have been visiting the restaurant for nearly 20 years this was our first stay. Disappointed not to have a sea view room the street view room was ok.

Although the room was fairly basic-it was right on the beach with a large balcony and totally clean and functional. The breakfast was excellent and the meal I ate very passable.

The restaurant is at the Hotel set back from the beach at Argeles, , it has a large outdoor area , the menu is comprehensive and covers every requirement from a coffee to a full meal. With friends we had various items including the 17euro 3 course lunch to offerings on the al a carte menu and drinks including wine/beer and fruit juice . Seeing the Calamari a friend had chosen I was envious but more than satisfied by my own fish. The food service was good and the weather perfect, a most enjoyable meal.

We went to Le Racou beach because they have a section where dogs are permitted. This little restaurant and hotel back right onto the beach so it has a lovely view of the sea. Most of the other restaurants here have a view of the road. They let us take our dog into the outside eating area. Sadly, we went after 2pm when they stop serving hot food during the day!So we could only have basic sandwiches, not even chips! The selection of food, especially seafood looked nice though and the staff were friendly enough. But be prepared to speak French.

We booked via airbnb and were sold a room with terrace overlooking the beach. When we arrived we were told there was not one available and were given room number 6. A small room with windows on two sides, both windows are overlooked by the houses opposite and there is no terrace. The second night we were given room number 2 which had the sea view. A slightly bigger room. We didn't eat in the restuarant, there is no fridge in the rooms and although there is a fridge at reception it wasn't on. Free wifi, staff were helpful and it was immaculately clean.

the restaurant and hotel have been owned and run by different generations of the same family for over 6O years. The quality of the produce is superb. Beware of huge portion sizes. We usually share a starter just say partaker ( to share) and ask for 2 assiettes (plates).Outdoor dining is on a terrace shaded by fig trees with views to the beach and sea. Indoor dining also available. The table is yours for as long as you want, no rush to seat second diners.Open from the beginning of April to the end of September. Very reasonably priced menus and caters for children

I admit that I cannot talk to the food.Got here on a wednesday in May (pre-season) around 7:30 pm for dinner. We were the only people in the restaurant and seem to be disturbing the guy behind the bar. Were shown to a table, handed the menu and left alone (alone, as in the guy disappeared into the back room). No question about an aperetif...Menu looked ok at best, but might have been trimmed down due to the early time of the year....We left after 10 minutes of no show by anyone. Could even go back into the restaurant to pick up a jacket that I had left, without being noticed by anyone. Sad outing.I give it a 'poor' only because I cannot say anything about the food, but don't get your hopes h...

Have been to La Racou a number of times and have usually had a beer at theL'Oasis as it has quite a nice open seating area suitable just for a drink or a bite to eat. It is facing the beach so not a bad spot to pass an hour or so.This time, we decided to have a bit of lunch, me with a beer and the wife a glass of rosé. We both plumped for the Catalan salad, which, like most salads in this part of France, were huge though, as usual, the tasty bits, come on a large bed of lettuce. However, there was a reasonable helping of tuna and anchovies while there was also plenty of other ingredients - cucumber, olives, hard boiled egg slices, radishes, onions and tomatoes to add to the taste. We enjoyed...
