"Had a wonderful meal on Easter Monday! The welcome from the staff was so friendly and warm and they were keen to have a chat with us. Whilst perusing the menu, I partook of a pint of Kingfisher very cold and refreshing, whilst my wife went straight for a very reasonably priced bottle of malbec which I would share with her later The food was marvellous. As a starter, my wife had a king prawn butterfly which was huge, so much so that I ended up with some of it. I had a king prawn pathia puree which, with its combination of sour and hot was delicious. For her main course, my wife had a chicken pasanda which was creamy and rich. I had my favourite, a phall, not that many restaurants venture dishes that hot. Mine was a lamb tikka phall and it was beautiful. That heat in the back of the throat was something that I have long missed. For desert I had some sort of Ferrero Rocher ice cream dish, which was pleasant enough, whilst my wife just had a Parisienne coffee. We hadn't realised that it was Ramadan and the family were breaking their fast at another table. They shared some of their delicacies with us and told us about this period in the Muslim calendar. We will definitely be going back!"

Always a warm welcome from all. The meals are not stingy, always leave full. Lots to choose from on the menu and if you like it cooked a little different they will happily oblige.

Second take away had now where it seemed random “chicken tikka “ meat just stuck into whatever sauce . This time butter chicken sauce, time before murghi makon sag. Meat really dry . Probably needed using up. Won’t be bothering again

Had a take away here tonight..first in a long time due to hols and being honest, trying others! It was OUTSTANDING and I don't do reviews often. It was bang on time exactly. Piping hot. Chicken so tender it was amazing. Everything else was spot on. Tender potatoes and cauliflower and the naan was fluffy and hot. Highly recommend!

Ordered online for home delivery. The food arrived after 30 minutes, which was 30 mins earlier than stated on the website, the naan bread was undercooked and very doughy and whilst the flavour of the Chicken Tikka Mossala was nice, the portion size was very small, six small pieces of chicken breast in a sea of sauce. The lamb dansak was very spicy and the portions size very small, the onion bhajis were small and greasy. The order cost over £40 so very poor value for money. I won’t order from here again.

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
