"Although impressed by the lovely photo of the soup posted by someone else in google reviews, when I ordered this it tasted so hot with pepper, perhaps cayenne(? I couldn't eat it. I was waiting for a friend to join me, and thinking my taste could have been affected by medication I am taking, I offered her the soup which had only just been served. She took some and although she initially thought it was okay, again gave up as it was too hot on the spice front. Shame as it was a generous portion and the bread that came with it was delicious. Overall though it was a bit of a disappointing experience. The door of the cafe was open and I kept my coat on the whole time at the table. After I had finished my drink we left and went to Brod and Wolf in the next road for a much nicer, warmer atmosphere and great early lunch, although of course, it was packed. It's a real shame as Jolliffe's is in a great place and has a lot going for it. The staff a young man and young woman that day seemed friendly and efficient. It's fine as a cafe for drinks, don't buy the soup unless you like your root vegetables with the heat of a scotch bonnet."

Unfortunately we didn't stay to eat or drink, we were met with an extremely rude male member of staff this morning, completely unnecessary. There are so many better places in Brighton to visit.

Nice cafe for a pitstop with some fine snacks. Nothing amazingly special. The cafe is pretty nice. Very big has upstairs seating so it would be good for bigger groups. Drinks here are fine. Nothing special at all.

I was passing by and the snacks looked delicious so I came in. The staff, including the owner, are nice. Cannoli cookie pistachio flavor recommended. A slightly hard cookie that tastes like white chocolate. Coffee tastes good.

The worst experience ever. Never in my life I witnessed an owner being so rude to customers. The old man who works in this place (possibly the owner) outright mocks and ridicules the customers and other people who work there laugh out loud with him. I will never visit this place again.

We were delighted to find this great coffee shop during our visit to Brighton! The coffee, pastries, and sandwiches were fresh and flavorful but if you want a nutritious meal I suggest the owner’s homemade savory root vegetable soup! It was fabulous! The good size portion kept me fueled most of the day! Everyone was so friendly. The service was great! Our two times to eat there during our one week stay will be a standout memory from our time in Brighton!
