Josephine's Filipino

I love this place! Food was really really good and authentic (I love the aubergine omelette) and Jack is super friendly too. The ambience is also really cosy and cute too. this is a really great family restaurant.

Last night was fantastic at this restaurant. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the pork sinigang, Lechon kawali, and Laing, all of which were freshly made and served piping hot. I will definitely be returning in the future.

The best Filipino Asian fusion resto we tried in London. Everything is authentic. Food was excellent and superb. Lechon kawali is a must try. Only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is its dated ambience and a damp smell in its premises. A dehumidifier will do wonders. If you miss Filipino food, you must visit this restaurant. We were craving Filipino food and stumbled upon this restaurant. We enjoyed the sweet potato in the Bulalo, which was perfect for the London weather. The sisig served on a sizzling plate was a great touch that not many places offer. The crispy pata was delicious. We also appreciated that they had Red Horse beer available. The owners were very friendly as well. Overall, we would definitely recommend this place.

Good food, quite authentic. I enjoyed the garlic sinangag with chicken adobo. I definitely recommend the lechon kawali (crispy fried pork belly). However, I think the ambiance dulled the experience since it seemed to be more refined than the comfort soul food, I know Filipino food to be. Our server was quite accommodating with my requests but he seemed to be taken aback with questions about the food regarding dietary restrictions. On the other hand, he made great recommendations for a lone guest who's never tried Filipino food.

I was keen to revisit my days lazing on the golden sand of some of the most beautiful islands on the planet. So Filipino food it was and Josephine's seemed like a great spot to indulge in a bit of culinary wistfulness (Charlotte Street on a summer's evening is a must).Sounds like a win-win situation right? Ten years ago I thought the food here was great, two years ago I thought it was quite good, last night I thought it was little more than edible. In fact, my partners soup wasn’t edible and I can’t remember the last time she didn’t eat something in a restaurant.Main course was ok but lacked depth of flavour and we were pretty sure the rice had been reheated in a microwave. We had a beef in peanut sauce dish which was uninspireing and a pork dish which was extremely forgettable. I hadn't really had Phillipine food before so I went with an open mind. The menu had hints of influences from Thai and Chinese food and there were few dishes that were obviously of Phillipine origin.I ended up with a lamb and peanut sauce dish that I had with rice. The meat was surprisingly enjoyable, it had been braised for just the right amount of time...achingly tender without just falling apart. The sauce was nothing special though and a bit of a let-down as the meat was so nice and deserved much better.
