We found the restaurant on TripAdvisor as it was close to our BnB and had good reviews. At first we couldn't find the restaurant, as it is tucked around in an unassuming street. Our waiter Luca was extremely polite with us and made us feel welcome from the start. We started off with the mixed appetisers, which went down very well and then we went on to the main course. We both had Casoncelli which is a specialist meal of Lombardy and it did not disappoint at all. Overall we had a great experience here and if we were here for longer or when we come back to Bergamo we will definitely go again.

After an evening of trains and ferries from Lake Como, we were looking for a hearty meal with some atmosphere. La Cantina was the perfect destination to arrive to, we were greeted by incredibly enthusiastic staff and somehow, on a Saturday Night, we got a walk-in for two. If you are here, do try and sit at the bar, the heart of the establishment is there. Trust the staff to recommend you the wine and don't be tied to the menu. Would not recommend for people with back issues as the majority of seating are high-stools but they also have low-down tables. Music was great, the conversations were flowing and very few people were on their phones, a rarity. Go, just go.

3 days in bergamo and I was so frustrated about the food until I met this place!!! We were received by Lucca, a very kind and generous waiter who guided us through our choices which were all great! We ate a lot!!! And everything was great! From the rustic environment, to the typical wines and food! By the way the Vegan and Vegetarian menu are excellent (and I am not neither one or the other! . La Cantina met all the expectations I had about eating (Good Food in Italy and interacting with great, charismatic, generous Italian people!!! BTW no tourists around!
