"Our second night in Albi and two restaurants we wanted to visit in the evening were closed. We decided to venture to a small local Vietnamese restaurant that received only 11 reviews but all very good and from French visitors. We arrived early and we're the only customers but received a friendly greeting in French with little English but a willingness to work with our very limited language skill. We decided on the fixed price menu at 17Euros a person. My husband had the shrimp salad, the beef with onions and peppers with rice all very fresh tasting and the salad had wonderful and crunchy ingredients in a lightly creamed dressing. I chose the beef and nem...a lovely dish with ginger spiced noodle, small slices of perfectly tender beef and two small fried rolls stuffed with finely shredded veggies and meat. My main dish was the shrimp (crevettes) Thailandaise a most delicious combination of crisp onion, cabbage, and a fantastic spiced cream sauce. I was told it was spicy but without the final dash of hot sauce it had just the right amount of zip. Both of us had the banana flambé to finish. This was just the right amount of food...not so much food that it could be shared. The cost including a lovely bottle of Gaillac Rouge was about 47 Euros. We feel this was a wonderful and very pleasant dinner and well worth the price. Thanks again to Evean our waitress and her parents the chefs!"

"So far we were delighted. But that's the first time we went to lunch. We were the first. We ordered 2 menus of the day. Our two little girls wanted meurette eggs and mimosas eggs but no eggs. Curious seems to me. I'll understand if the restaurant was complete! Concerning the sausage dish green beans disproportionate amount between the 2 plates. The baking hamburger too cooked yet requested bleeding even no mayonnaise at our request. It's a shame because they were always satisfied."

"I was in Albi for business and my French hosts took me to Carre Sud to enjoy dinner and watch the Canada/France rugby game. Being the only Canadian in this restaurant during the game was fun. The French were great hosts and particularly happy because they thrashed my Canadian team by 20 points. Anyway, back to the restaurant. We started off with 3 different seafood tapas. They were all very enjoyable. This was followed up by our official appetizers. Mine was a semi local fish (can't remember the name) with some lettuce and a nice salad dressing. For the main, I had the calamari. It was not deep fried like the way you get it in North America. It was very tasty. For dessert, I enjoyed the creme brule. Of course, all of this was washed down with French champagne (before dinner) and vin rouge and vin blanc during dinner. Overall a fun night at an unpretentious restaurant in Albi."
