Nothing fancy . No bells and whistles. Just ordinary well cooked lovely food. Quick efficient service. Clean restaurant. No complaints here

Love this cafe. The food is fresh, delicious and tasty. The staff are always pleasant and helpful. It is very clean, light and airy with a nice atmosphere.

Didn’t get the chance to order as we were rudely and aggressively told by a member of staff to get out as she was cleaning the cafe was still open 3:45) Would never go back and it ruined what otherwise was a nice afternoon at the Ferens Speisekarte ansehen

Not as good as it used to be. We only wanted tea but had to wait over 15 mins for it. Seemed to have a poor system of getting orders out. Also had to ask for our table to be cleared from previous customers, this after about 10 minutes of sitting there. We noticed others had to do the same.

This charming café is peacefully run and immaculately clean. The food is delicious. We had a pleasant experience during our visit and I felt compelled to leave a positive review, especially after reading some negative ones. I have come here multiple times to meet my mom for lunch and it has always been excellent. I have no complaints.

Decided to leave a review after reading some of the recent ones given and then visiting for lunch today with 2 adults and 3 children under 8. Wasn't sure what to expect after the most recent reviews but we had such an excellent experience, managed to find a table for 5, really good choice on the menu for the grown ups and the kids menu was very good value for money with a good choice, very easy to order with fantastic customer service very polite and helpful and the food arrived quickly and was excellent. I have visited this restaurant multiple times over the years while visiting the wonderful gallery, however, I am disappointed to say that the cafe has not improved. During my most recent visit, all I ordered was a bacon sandwich, a toasted teacake, and tea. The sandwich was disappointing with stale bread and greasy bacon, the teacake was average but served with margarine instead of butter, and there was not enough tea for both of us to have two cups each. The staff were friendly but lacked organization. Although there is a comments box, I was unable to find any comment cards. It is unfortunate that the experience could have been better.

The seating includes traditional tables and chairs as well as armchairs, sofas, and coffee tables. Today, we went for a late morning visit and each had a bacon sandwich. The bread was fresh, but the bacon was a bit hard and salty, indicating it may have been cooked and reheated. The drinks were satisfactory. However, a staff member repeatedly passed through the cafe with a trolley, causing the doors to slowly close and let in a blast of freezing cold air. The completely unprofessional and ill tempered staff with the exception of the chef ruined our trip to the gallery. First the poor woman on the till trying to take orders lacked training and was completely out of her depth. There were two waitresses and one had to supervise her all the time so that created more pressure. After a long wait to order in a queue of only 3 we chose a table. It wasn't busy as we were quite early for lunch with around 12 diners were in. I talked to the lady trying to work the till, asked her if she'd had any training working it before customers arrived. She said no, they are in at the deep end. I told her she had my sympathy and as there was a Suggestion Box right... Speisekarte ansehen
