Lake Road Inn - Speisekarte

Husband's birthday so thought we would treat ourselves to lunch. Baked potato was totally undercooked and unedible. Burger bun was stale, chips tasted of old oil. Table sticky, menus were too. Never again.

Positive aspects of this restaurant include a nice bar area with a lovely open fire and friendly staff. On the downside, the food was disappointing as it appeared to be low-quality freezer-type food and the chips were not homemade.

After sampling a couple of the other Pubs in Keswick, our experience at the Lake Road Inn was very disappointing. Despite there being a long queue at the bar only one person (who looked totally disinterested) was serving. The food menu was uninspiring and took a long time to appear. We didn’t return. I went to the pub on Friday, December 8th and again on Saturday, December 9th. It's a lovely pub with friendly staff, and I ordered some delicious food. I recommend trying the Derwentwater Ale. I had planned to come back on the evening of the 9th to listen to live music, but our campsite was evacuated due to flooding. I'm looking forward to our next visit on our next trip to the Lakes.

We were walking around Keswick and needed something to eat. There were nine of us and we hadn’t booked anywhere. Went into the Lake Road Inn and were told the kitchen had just closed but if we wouldn’t mind a short wait they could open it again for us. Our group had a wide selection of the menu and everyone enjoyed their meal. As folk who travel a lot, this type of service is unfortunately very rare in parts of the UK. A lovely show of Lake District hospitality. Would definitely recommend and next time we’re in the area we will go back for sure.

Decided to sit outside for a drink after a walk. It was very busy but managed to get a table outside. The real ale is good here. We decided to eat here as well but I wish we hadn’t bothered. The food is not great. We ordered nachos which when they came were a bowl of tortilla chips with some partly melted cheese in the middle and a very small pot of sour cream and salsa on the side. The fish finger baguette had 3 not very good quality fish fingers inside. Chips were ok just standard frozen chips. I would definitely stop in for a drink again but would give the food a miss! We stopped by for dinner in the evening and almost left because there was no one working behind the bar. Eventually, a staff member came out from the back, ignored us, and then left again. Just as we were about to leave, a bartender finally appeared and served us. The food arrived promptly and was decent, but not exceptional. While we were eating, two other couples also left because there was no one tending the bar. One couple even made a joke about serving themselves because no one was around. The pub quickly emptied out, which was not typical compared to other pubs that are usually bustling with customers.

Ordered food plus sausages for three dogs. The presentation of the sausages outweighed the rest of the offering. My burger was rare and dripping in blood, which had seeped into the lettuce and bread roll. I asked for it to be changed but was told ‘medium rare burgers were standard’ therefore they refused to replace my meal. My husband’s burger was well cooked btw. We asked for it to be returned to the grill at least and for the roll to be changed this was done with the caveat’ it might be burned’. Honestly how difficult is it to cook a burger? Really disappointed in the lack of customer care and below standard food.

Place looks nice from outside but was downhill from there for us unfortunately. When you’re paying in excess of £20 for a burger and a drink you might expect something nice however the patties were bland and overcooked on the outside, no one table checked us during meal. Had been told there would be a wait on food (fair enough) but after waiting an hour and a half it was explained they prepare their food fresh hence the wait, having ordered three burgers we didn’t feel this was a justifiable wait but staff seemed to think waiting this long for food was ok and an apology wasn’t necessary.
