"Service was attentive and friendly, food delicious with lots of authentic Moroccan flavours, generous amounts of fluffy couscous accompanied everything. Three of us had the tagine - chicken and veggie, all great, as was the pigeon and meguez sausage. Even the beer was Moroccan, and nice too. We wanted to find something tasty, reasonably priced, and not the standard Italian and French cuisine. This was a great alternative and half the price of the previous night's meal. Even the WC was special- gleaming tiles and spotlessly clean. A delightful evening."

one summer night in July, we had booked. Well received, well served. We ate tajine and lamb couscous. The meat was very good, and a lot of portions. for tea with mint, excellent tea, cakes can do better.

As others have noted, critics overlap for the counter (formerly a French hamburger restaurant) and the beldi counter (the typical Moroccan restaurant). we ate there last night I was disappointed by the tajine with the cod who diped in the oil very fat, my friend took the couscous he loved, on the other hand, the music was rather modern and not Moroccan atmosphere we expected to better, on the other hand pleasant staff despite many people to try out the season again.

meat advertised from butchery ... dry without taste. I took the full seagull chicken and beef. No meat had taste. accompaniment tres leger 5 legume that fights in duel in the sauce. Server not smiling 20 minutes to get a bottle of water while the restaurant was almost empty... Positive point the semoule was good. and the busy street. I wouldn't go back there and I don't recommend it

Wat een heerlijk restaurantje in het centrum van saint maxime. Wij waren na 2 weken in Frankrijk te hebben rondgereisd wel eens toe aan iets anders dan de standaard Franse keuken en daarvoor was Comptoir perfect! De tajines zijn overheerlijk, de wijn is uitstekend en de bediening heel oplettend en aardig. Echt een aanrader als je van de Marrokaanse/nomadische keuken houdt. We arrived early (19h) and were very well received with our children in the early age. one or two baby chairs would be appreciated to accommodate families. The dishes are good and in good quantity but for the tajines (vegetarian) the juice was very concentrated in tomato and therefore not liquid. As for the child menu the dish is very copied but we asked for extra juice (sweetness however) because the semolina was quite dry.

We went with family to dinner in this restaurant because I had read the praises that Internet users made. I finally came out quite disappointed. it is true that it is a kitchen that I know and that I eat regularly so I know how to recognize the level and quality of the kitchen which is probably not the case of tourists or people living on st maxim what can explain the many praises. I do not recommend it despite a staff and a very pleasant decor, the kitchen is not at all at the rendezvous.

"It was the best of meals, The second, not so much. On the Wednesday evening we explained that we needed one gluten free meal. We were immediately handed over to a charming lady, who we took to be the proprietor. She assured us that she would confer with the chef. We ordered a “coquelet roti” with a cream and grape sauce and a fillet steak served without sauces. Chips were covered in gluten but the chef proposed a salad for the steak and the “coquelet” came with a Gratin Dauphinoise. All the food was delicious. The chicken was soft and sweet the sauce had a depth of flavour aided and abeted by the small bursts of sweet grape juice from the grapes within it. The steak was perfect; maximum of flavour from the seared outside, maximum of soft juiciness from the tender pink interior. Dessert was a fruit crumble that had not had the crumble added, pronounced delicious, and a crème broulee. The crème was not a traditional baked vanilla egg custard. It tasted like a flour based preparation and was devoid of vanilla. All in all, the service had been attentive and the food mostly great. We determined that we would return for a second meal and looked forward to it.Mistake! Sunday evening, the waitress remembered us, and promised to check for gluten free food. She checked the Champaign sauce that was served with the Salmon. We could not have it. She was not aware that the rice, the dauphinoise and the chips all contained gluten. She suggested salad. We said that would be fine. The Dorade Royale, one of my favourite fish was sold out but they could offer Sea Bass. O.K., that would do. The salad delivered with the dry salmon was a simple bag mix of leaves, not the fresh mixed salad it had been four days before. It had brown stalks and tasted stale. The fish was undoubtedly the worst cooked fish I have ever been served. It had clearly been laid on a metal tray and placed under an electric grill. It had not been turned or moved until it was served. Consequently, the top skin was like leather. It defied my efforts with the serrated knife provided to cut through it. I had to prize it off to get to the very dry fish beneath. A simple glaze of oil would have ensured that the skin became crispy and a delicious part of the fish. It would also have ensured that the (Chef?) remembered to turn the fish under the grill. When I turned the fish on the plate, the lower side skin was a soggy mess where all the juices had soaked it through. Scraping it off, the second fillet was edible, despite the attentions of the chef. We told the waitress what was wrong with our food. She said she would tell the chef. We don’t know if she did. We did not see him."
