Rich and flavoured dishes from the south of France. Foie gras very present on both menu and dishes. Generous 1kg cassoulet served . Lovely basque wines to be discovered. The nougat glace dessert is not to be missed. All around...all good. (Fyi menu in French only as of today)

Found this place after wandering around vieux Mans and being sourly treated at first two choices(both higher rated)Very welcoming, attentive service, great food beautifully presented.So good we went back the next night.Ate inside and had table by open window on 1st floor- recommended

Le Flambadou is one of my favourite restaurants anywhere in the world. Wide menu and excellent wine-list emphasise the local area while serving to all tastes. Lovely atmosphere and in summer it's a fantastic place to eat outside on the terrace. Not the cheapest by any stretch but I think its worth it.

Pleasant terrace on the walls of the old town for dining on a warm summer evening but the food did not live up to expectations. Copious salad leaves with starter and main courses but no other veg. Parmentier de canard served in a glass jar was on the dry side. Cafe gourmand to finish was uninspiring. Definitely over priced.

My daughter and I found ourselves in the Plantagenet Cite of Le Mans at 1pm on a Sunday and needed a restaurant. Many were closed but we found this charming and quaint place, where in very short order we were served a parmentier of duck and a leg of rabbit respectively. Both were extremely tasty and wholesome. The wine (Cahors) was good and the proprietor genial. A nice surprise all round.

This is a small place, slightly off the main routes, but offering lovely Landaise and Perigourdine cooking. Flavours and presentation are excellent, making the menus very good value for the quality. Our ballotine of duck was presented in a glass with the boned duck under a layer of crushed potato. NB - closed Sat lunch, Sun eve and Mon lunch, and people who arrived at 1:30 when we were there were told it was too late.

I had been here about 3 years ago for the Le Mans classic with a bunch of blokes. We ate outside for lunch and had such a good time I made a special detour to take my wife and friends. The outside was not open but the inside is charming. The food was excellent with dishes that were a little different. We were recommended a good wine and one of our party had a chocolate dessert which he said was absolutely to die for. Very rich though. I would love to go in the evening it is a lovely restaurant.

We found this little gem by chance whilst walking around the old city, the setting is great, this is a small restaurant with southern food, a small menu at various prices for set choices, this is fresh well cooked excellent food, you can eat cheaper elsewhere but in Le Mans you really get what you pay for, this is excellent food at a reasonable price for the quality, I had crab starter and mediterranean prawn main, excellent cheeses and deserts included. service was fast and very friendly, I can definitely recommend this little restaurant

Visited for lunch and enjoyed our meal. I had a duck confit starter with foie gras, followed by kidneys in a mustard sauce with crushed potatoes then a tea gourmande, which consisted of a cherry sorbet, a tiny shortbread biscuit, a macaroon and a vey small rubbery cake. My husband had a similar meal but chose parmentier of duck for his main. Everything was tasty and pleasantly served. The restaurant is clean and well decorated in contemporary style but a little cramped. There were only four clients taking lunch but the atmosphere was cosy and peaceful. However, the choice of wine was limited. Only one white wine was served by the half bottle and no wine was served by the glass as I don't dri...
