Le San Juan - Speisekarte

A dinner of sparse quality on the a la carte menu was suddenly charged as a fixed menu. Reason was that the computer only had these prices registered. After objections the cash register had no problem producing almost the correct price. Why this?

My husband ate here recently and ordered the mixed grill. The veal was like leather and the steak was the toughest he had ever experienced. He was asked if he wanted coffee and when he pointed to the meal that he had hardly touched and said "Not good" the waiter simply walked away.

Right around the corner from the port, with a view of the light house at the entrance to the Nice harbour, this non stop service restaurant is a great place for a morning coffee and croissant or a nice linch or dinner. We walked the prominade and ended up here on the recommendation of our hotel. My wife has always loved the Salad Nicoise and makes it at home often. She said this is the best and she will try to recreate it at home. We were here at 1 pm and it was not too busy and the service was great. It was good to have a beer after a long walk, too.

This place is right next to the port and happened to be right next to where we were staying so it was the first place we ate at in France. We were seated quickly and the waiter was friendly enough. I ate Gnocchi which was lovely but pricey. In short I would summarise our experience here a pleasant but pricey, which could be said about many places on the Riviera.

She still is not talking to me for taking her to such a awful place. The smokers are so inconsiderate, and chain smoke even while you are eating. The fillet of fish was awful and the steak tough, then they tried to charge us full price for not having the special as we did not want it the desert, so it had it, or some of it. This was in our neighborhood and we were looking for an easy dining experience. We should have known better, as we were the only ones in the restaurant on a Friday night. We tried the beef entrecôte (cold) and the braised beef and gnocchi (mediocre sauce, but the gnocchi was inedible - gummy starchy) and the gambini linguini (two bits of shrimp, lots of mussels and overdone linguini). I've added pictures to confirm we were there, but would not be back.

We sailed into Nice, looking for a good restaurant. Regrettably, the San Juan was not it. Although the waitstaff were able and pleasant, the food was the worst that some of us have eaten in all the world. The calamari sadly disappeared into a thick layer of crusty batter, which even the most diligent searchers among us were unable to unearth. The mixed grille, despite careful attention to 'rare' cuts of meat, turned out to be three charred lumps of indiscernible origin. The gray gelatinous tuna, woefully consumed by our intrepid skipper, left him speechless as a result of the picante sauce used to disguise the poor quality of the fish. Perhaps more shocking was the sheer volume of swill they...

We have never experienced this kind of foods and service like this before in France. We ordered 8 dishes, most of them were horrible, especially the seafoods which weren't fresh at all(the restaurant is right beside the harbour). Very bad taste and hard to chew. The services, The waiter (with glasses) has the worst attitude to foreign customers I have ever met. He knows little English. But that's fine, the problem is that he's very careless, no attention to details at all. He basically ignored us all night, and made us feeling like leaving the place straight away. When we paid at the end, they didn't even give us a change back !! I had to ask for the change back, otherwise they wouldn't give... Speisekarte ansehen
