Situated in a popular square, filled with restaurants and bars, L'Egoiste stands out for good quality food and friendly and efficient service. There is plenty of choice nearby, but this is a good one to visit.

This place was great food was excellent service very friendly. Was looking for somewhere eith more than fish and this delivered!! One happy Aussie here who was hanging out for cheese burger YUM but if you want all the other stuff its there as well !!!

Popped in for lunch and was pleasantly surprised! The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. I had the sardines which were fresh, big and piled high! The salad was a bit basic but that wasn’t the star of the plate. We ended up having ice cream there too the rum and raisin has a good kick to it!

My first meal in Marseilles, I had the traditional Aioli with fish, prawn, fresh vegetables it was magnificent. The owner Remy work in Greenwich CT and made me feel welcome as a New Yorker. His wife is the chef and I saw them playing with their toddler son which makes it special. Don’t hesitate, go eat here and have an authentic experience. Also great latte. Awesome find! The sardines were really tasty. But unfortunately main course entrecote was a stringy uneadible mess, also the duck was unevenly cooked : Main course took very long time other waitress querying our waitress for delay). During the main course staff did not ask if everything is ok quiet non-weekend night). After returning the entrecote almost untouched, and commenting to waitress the quality, there were no apologies etc. At that point unfortunately my tip tolerance drops to zero :

My partner and I ate here tonight after wandering around a few of the restaurants situated in the square. I'm surprised to read the negative reviews about this restaurant as we had a really lovely evening. The waiter was very friendly and we were made to feel really welcome! We ordered wine which came very quickly along with some water for the table and bread. I ordered the Wok De Poulet and my partner ordered the Boeuf Farfalle (and some extra fries! This is a restaurant among several in the square in Marseille, and I did wander around them all before settling on this one, because I liked the look of the menu. It was lunchtime on a Sunday, I was travelling solo, and it wasn't that busy, so I figured that the reports of bad service might not apply, and generally I was right. I was served efficiently, although without the warmth that I noted was being given to other (French) customers at the next table. I chose the goats cheese salad, which was delicious and generous and filling (although I was given one lonely slice of baguette on the side, which looked a little odd in such a big pot). We arrive there by a very fortunate accident searching for another place. What a wonderful experience. It was at the end of a 10 day trip to Provence so we had a vast comparison food service context. The place is cozy and nice; we stayed at the terrace. Staff was exceptionally careful, carrying and fast (Sunday arround 19:30 pm). Food was so great. We were really impressed. My wife chose magret de canard with mashed potatoes a sort of ratatouille, I had sardines acompanied by a delicate and tasteful salad and my daughter choose moules in wine sous (mussles). Stumbled upon this restaurant as we were in need of a late lunch on May Day. Husband and myself wanted to sit at a table with an outside dining area as the weather was lovely. Had no idea what to expect but from looking around at what other diners had on their plates it looked O.K.
