Funny little place...more trying to be something its not quite? Ok burgers & wine. Served by an eccentric older waiter who hand wrote the bill :-D

A small café. Warm. Take the road in a way for a more pleasant experience. There are several cafes closer to Bastille Square, which I prefer, unlike this one.

Good little Parisian cuisine. fast service, but for the first time unwelcome. But what do you want, we certainly can't recognize everyone! my first appreciation of your: I come back quite far back, I didn't go back there anymore, and maybe (this kind of place) it's already changed.

This was just down the road from where we were staying and we ate here as a last resort on a Sunday evening when all other cafes etc were full in the Bastille area. We should not have bothered. It seems a lovely place to sit and have a drink at 5pm but do not order food here it is below basic, my husband did not get what he ordered and instead got tough lamb with a bit of lettuce. I ordered pasta and tomato sauce and got a very very basic sauce probably out of a bottle. We would not recommend anyone eating here.

Les Artistes isn't so much a restaurant as an experience. It's like being invited into someone's home. Jean-Jacques (the owner) does everything, he takes your coat at the door, makes the food, and pours your wine. I do not eat chicken or meat, so my meals there were usually the same (vegetarian lasagna, and lentilles -- yum!). I imagine the meat meals are much better than the veggie ones, and mine was pretty incredible. All the times I went here, I went with someone who was a friend of Jean-Jacques, so I think that made my experience different... but I can still definitely recommend this place.
