"my wife and I spend about 3 months in northumberland, visit a series of beauty spots, historical sites and equally important to look for great restaurants. our internet research and talks with locals led us to the old boat house in...Amble to lunch. the location of the restaurant (right on the coast) and near a series of interesting huts that houses a lot of objects was immediately attractive. this was given by entering into the restaurant and a very warm welcome by the staff and a table directly on the harbour. all very positiw, but this was just the prelude for some amazing food. we chose the common seafood plate – a huge wooden tablet with a whole lobster, perfectly cooked sea crumbs, lindisfarne oysters, roll mop herings, smoked makrele, hot cold smoked salmon, shetland mussels and delicious broken fish goujons roy pawns with delicious freshly baked freshly baked we would have stopped (should) after this amazing display of delicious food, but we ended the order of desserts – they were also delicious and glad that we did not leave. we can recommend a visit to the old boat house for a culinary extravaganza!"

"I love my seafood and whilst visiting Amble in Northumberland, Jasper’s Bistro did not disappoint. My family and I were welcomed at around as an opportunist walk-in (in the future I will book in advance) and we’re lucky enough to get seated and fabulously...fed in the lull before dinner. We ordered seafood dishes from the specials board and the a la carte which included lindisfarne oysters, squid with garlic, mussels in a garlic and cream sauce to start and we followed this with lobster with garlic and anchovy tapenade, whole crab salad, beer battered monkfish with twice cooked chunky chips -all beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and tasting fabulous and in my case, washed down by local beer. Nothing was too much trouble for our server with kids trying lobster for the first time (big success btw) extra plates, tools, napkins were all helpfully provided. No hesitation in recommending this little gem of a restaurant from our experience today!"

"This restaurant is an absolute gem. It has been run by a lovely couple for 38 years and, having visited last week when we were staying in the area, we can understand how they have been going for so long. The food is fabulous, home cooked style in the very best sense of the phrase. I had the steak and kidney pie which was amazing proper home made pastry and meat which just melted. The vegetables were lovely, fresh and perfectly cooked and seasoned. My wife had the lamb chops and said they were the best she has eaten anywhere. The ingredients are all locally sourced and of exceptional quality. The atmosphere is lovely and it really feels as if you’re dining with friends family. We both said that if we lived in Warkworth we would go every week."

"We had our eye on this place after walking past at the weekend and it was full. We were on holiday for a week so popped in later as a walk in on a Wednesday early dinner. The staff were really welcoming and kind to our kids. Service was fast. We chose some mild curries and a chicken goujons dinner. We ordered suitable stuff for the kids off the adult menu and they were fine with us sharing dishes. Both our primary school age kids hoovered it all up and had a great time. The restaurant was relaxed and pleasant for families. Great food. Our son particularly liked the peshwari naan and I’ve never seen our daughter shovel away so much korma chicken. All very reasonably priced. Great Curry place would recommend for families on holiday."

"Popped in just for a nice hot coffee but have visited many times. Great place in Amble. Stunning views. Warkworth Castle visible overlooking the river. Outside seating area too. What's not to like about the Fish Shack. You pay a little more than average but that comes with the location and stunning view. Parking: There are 2 car parks very close by. Currently the one next to the customs house was 50p per hour.
