it is a perfect place to enjoy good food, with French inspiration, at a very small place. cozy and elegant. the owner is beautiful and the service is great. well for a private business lunch and also for a quiet couple dinner.

the moncalvillo is a small bistro that offers an eclectic kitchen with a traditional and modern touch. they prepare dishes such as clay and apple foam with praline, amuse-gueule, the parmesan eggplant and the scalp crunchy surrounded by scalp. as a main dish offers a meat piere with red meat, green risotto in vegetable broth with chirlas. among desserts are the violet ice cream with bitter chocolate marquee and the tatin jar with vanilla ice cream. El Moncalvillo es un pequeño bistró que ofrece una cocina ecléctica con un toque tradicional y moderno. Preparan platos como la espuma de morcilla y manzana con praline, el amuse-gueule, la berenjena parmesana y las vieiras crujientes rodeadas de alcachofas escalfadas. Como plato principal ofrece un steak tartare con carne roja, risotto verde en caldo de vegetales con chirlas. Entre los postres se encuentran el helado de violeta con marquise de chocolate amargo y el tarte tatin con helado de vainilla.

Beautiful small restaurant in the Chueca neighborhood. Owner very personable. Service was good. Had beef braised in a wine broth, so tender, served with fried potato strings that complimented the texture and flavor of the meat. Husband had the duck that was cooked the way...duck should be, medium rare. The appetizer, though seemingly expensive, was a huge portion of artichoke hearts and foie gras, easily could have been shared by four (and the sauce was fabulous thank goodness for the fluffy rolls). The menu is limited, but that is not a fault. Dessert...lava cake with violet icecream! definitely high quality chocolate. With a bottle of wine, $100E

we have chosen this place because it was literally 100 steps away from our apartment. it was our last night in madrid, and we were tired and it was rainy. this place is authentic French and is very good if that is what they want. the artichokes. with feie was fantastic. there were 4 artichokes and the fondie on them was a half inch thick and as round as the tip of the artichoke with a leber cream sauce. wow. the escaped main course was good, but not great. my wife had the bark and it was good. the gloomy, chocolate lava cake was very good. all in all, beautiful evening. everyone here speaks French. service was very good and the wine was good, little expensive.
