We had a lovely Sunday lunch with good value and a pleasant atmosphere.

We had a lovely meal, veggie and non-veggies alike, and there was no time pressure. Our only quibble was that occasionally it was hard to find the waiter.

monsal head is usually busy because of the excellent eating, cozy atmosphere and amazing intentionally comfortable by wanderers due to the beautiful derby landscape. I had a vegetarian wellington with halloumi smoked aubergine and carburized red paprika. imaginatiw and really well cooked. we had both a cure and a glass of wine and it came to £30.

we wanted to eat in the restaurant to enjoy the intentional, but due to personal shortage we were moved into the stable bar (dark and no prospect). they had my contact details so that I could have seen before if we wanted to feed with them, but they didn't. so we had no opportunity to eat there. that meant that you had a snake on the bar. there was no excuse. eating was okay, but not especially special. Monsal Head is always bustling with customers drawn in by its delicious food, charming atmosphere, and picturesque views, making it a popular spot for hikers exploring the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. I ordered the vegetarian Wellington with Halloumi, smoked aubergine, and charred red peppers, which was not only creative but also expertly prepared. My dining partner and I each enjoyed a course with a glass of wine, and the bill came to £30 in total.

We requested to dine in the restaurant in order to enjoy the views, but due to a shortage of staff we were relocated to the stable bar, which was dark and lacked any views. Despite having my contact information, the restaurant failed to reach out to inquire if we still wished to dine with them, leaving us with no alternative but to eat in the bar. This resulted in having to wait in line at the bar to place our order, without receiving any apology for the inconvenience. The food was decent but nothing outstanding.

We have visited the Monsal Head hotel a number of times, and the food and service had always been very good. However on this occasion we arrived to find all the entrances to the hotel with signs on saying 'wedding reception guests only '. After entering and ringing to find out what was going on, a lady came and told us our booking had been moved to the Stables bar. On this visit the bar was completely empty, there was only one member of staff behind the bar, who seemed to be more interested in cleaning than us.
