"I recently visited the restaurant and was disappointed to find out that they didn't have my OpenTable reservation, which meant I missed out on the advertised 20% discount. I have been a regular at this place in its various incarnations—first as a curry house, then known as Joy, and now Montaha—and it has always been my favorite Indian restaurant. It's disheartening to see it decline like this. The service was particularly poor, as there was only one waiter handling everything. The atmosphere felt lifeless as well. They also didn't have any Sancerre available, claiming we had consumed the last bottle during our visit in September. After waiting for an hour, my food finally arrived, but it all tasted the same and was overcooked. Sadly, I doubt I will return."

I was disappointed to find that the restaurant couldn't find my OpenTable reservation and therefore did not honor the advertised 20% discount. I've been a regular customer over the years, from its days as a curry house to Joy and now Montaha. It used to be my favorite Indian restaurant, so it's disheartening to see it decline like this. The service was poorly managed with only one waiter on staff, and the draft lager was flat. They also didn't have any Sancerre available, claiming we had consumed the last of it during our visit in September! After waiting an hour for our food, it finally arrived but unfortunately, everything tasted bland and overcooked. Sadly, I won't be returning.

"This was my first meal here with my friend since lockdown; we had been there many times beforehand for birthdays and other celebrations too. I was a little disappointed with the food and the inconsistency of the waiting staff... Some so attentive and others who were not so kind. The only waitress was adorable and made up for some of the less friendly waiters. The food was mediocre and the general atmosphere was not as welcoming as it has been in the past. To be fair, they heard me say quite loudly that it was my friend's birthday and they popped a couple of flaming candles on our table with a song... Which is standard fare for this place too. "Don't think of it as just a burger van; it's more like a gourmet food truck you'd find in America. For £6.40, you can enjoy a perfectly crafted house-made bacon cheeseburger, along with chips and a drink. The burger is clearly made to order, featuring excellent ingredients like caramelized onions. It's nice to know that there’s a short wait of about 5 minutes while they prepare your meal, rather than serving something that's been sitting on a hotplate for hours. The staff are also friendly and welcoming. It's definitely a journey worth taking, and you won’t be disappointed."

"I recommend this nice little cafe. It has a great ethos of buying ingredients from small local businesses. The owner is friendly and welcoming. The menu is simple and not overloaded with masses of different concoctions which works well and on most days there is...a special which the owner makes himself. Generally the cakes are locally sourced from local cake makers which you can tell as they are tasty and haven’t got that mass produced feeling about them. The quality of coffee is good and if I were to be fussy I would say I need to order a large latte as the coffee shot is too strong for me when ordering the small. Take the ethos of the owner and support your local business the quality and personal touch beat the chain stores hands down."
