"I had gone to Haddo House expecting to have a coffee in the tearoom attached to the House. I had no idea that there was another option, situated in a small building just across from the car park. I went in quite late in the afternoon, thinking it might be closing, but I was able to order a coffee and chose a strawberry cupcake to go with it. The coffee was very flavoursome and the cake hit the spot with a generous amount of icing on top and a juicy berry. The staff were polite and pleasant, and it all felt very relaxed. There are also tables outside, which would be fine when the heavy rain passed over. At a cost of £4.10 it was at the inexpensive end of the range for such things. I was very pleased with my experience."

Quaint little restaurant offering delectable coffee alongside locally made cakes and fudge. They also provide drinking water and treats for your furry friend. Enjoy outdoor seating during the warm summer days or cozy up inside.

After a long brisk walk around Haddo country park, there is nothing better than a coffee and cupcake at Mrs Smith’s You can even sit outside with the dog, where they also supply dog bowls and free dog biscuits Coffee is excellent, as are the cakes and scones

Stopped for a drink only. Good selection of hot and cold at reasonable prices. Snack and food options looked good from what I saw been brought out and again, looked good value for money. Scones and cakes looked good, just a pity we had a good breakfast. Located next to car park. Speisekarte ansehen

I am biased when it comes to this place as we come here every weekend to walk the dog. The owner knows us as we've been coming for 4 years and she always comes out and gives the dog a treat . We love the coffee, the soup and the scones with clotted cream and jam! Kids love the brownies and the icecream.

Is the restaurant in violation of Tier 4 restrictions by serving food to customers seated outside at their own tables instead of offering takeaway options? By providing lighting and shelters for these outdoor diners, is the restaurant not technically offering outdoor dining services? It seems unusual to see other cafes not following suit and operating in this manner under Tier 4 restrictions.

Today, I had a delicious NYC baguette at Mrs Smiths. It was filled with pastrami, slices of Jarlsberg cheese, juicy dill cucumbers, and mustard all served in a fresh, crusty baguette. I also had a pot of Clipper tea to drink. The staff were friendly and welcoming. However, the only downside was the muffin - it was dry and the frosting tasted very synthetic. Despite this, I had an enjoyable lunch and will definitely be back with my dog. Thank you! Speisekarte ansehen

We popped into here after visiting Haddo House. There is also a National Trust shop serving food. However, we went into here for the baguettes on offer and were not disappointed. There is seating outside and in. We had coffee and two freshly made warm baguettes that were full of ingredients. The staff were friendly and food was delicious.Based on our experience we would return and have no hesitation on recommending. Total cost £11.75, which we felt was good for what we had.

DO NOT THINK THIS IS MRS SMITH'S ANYMORE After a stroll around the gardens, we popped into the small café next to the car park for an early lunch. Have to say there did not seem to be a welcoming feeling as previous visits As someone who has food allergies we saw that cheese was the only thing available for me until found out it was white. No suggestion of anything even toast was offered, so we left !! Last time we were there, I had egg sandwiches... a lady came from the kitchen when she heard I could not eat what was on offer and suggested the egg sandwich. It was not as if the café was busy, no one was in there, I am sure that they had bread and probably eggs so do wonder why that was not...

"Sunday, 3rd September 2023 – 19:00 Meal: Wine Starters – Main – Coffee My friend and I arrived at 19:00 to a busy but not overfull restaurant without a reservation and they accommodated us upstairs. Menus were produced and we ordered a bottle of white wine and a jug of water. 0rders placed for starters and 2 servings of the Italian style fish stew on the ‘Specials Board’ at 26.99 each. Tomato and chilli with promises of loads of different fish. The toss up was between a steak or the stew (which neither of us would cook at home). The table was dirty and needed wiping – this request was placed 3x on the young waitron who eventually produced a cloth slopping water from a bucket in the corner cupped in her hands where she half heartedly wiped the table with water dripping onto my friend’s lap. Hurried mop up with tissues out of my bag. The white wine was plonked on the table – next to the cooler – unopened and no glasses. Several attempts were made to attract the waitron’s attention. Eventually another bottle was produced opened and we were advised the waitron was under age and not allowed to pour wine. Perfectly acceptable had she produced an opener and the glasses with an explanation I would have been happy to help myself – we understand and appreciate these things. The starters arrived and were delicious! The chef then came out to see us and explained that there was no lobster for the stew – we asked for extra monkfish, he then said there was no monkfish left – but could help us with other white fish and crab claws. He said he was down to the last 2 portions, and he would ensure they were hearty. We were a bit concerned and suggested perhaps we settle for the steak which is always delicious. He assured us we had made the right choice and would enjoy the stew. The stews arrived and were ‘hearty’ if being crammed with the contents of a tin of crab claws is your definition of hearty. The promised ‘rich tomato broth with chilli and garlic’ was a watered down version of what was clearly less than a cup of the original broth left at the bottom of the pot topped with water. It was tasteless – lacking in hint of either chilli, wine, garlic or herbs – having lived in Malta I can assure you I have a deep understanding of Med cooking. I guess we were lucky we didn’t have the salty brine of the crab claws as the broth. It was inedible and we were starving so we kept adding salt and pepper – we were beyond the point of returning the food which was a mistake in hindsight. We skipped dessert – had coffees and left. The meal came to nearly £100.00. This was an expensive lousy experience. We paid a generous tip – because they accommodated us without a reservation. Take aways from the experience: • The restaurant service on a Sunday evening at 19:00 should be as good as it is on a Friday at 19:00 • Being a local and having eaten there several times – it is my first choice for a ‘good’ meal – don’t abuse the luxury of local support. • Train your waitrons to clean tables, by wringing out the cloth and not dripping water on your patrons. • Waitrons (even under aged ones) should at least carry a wine opener, and understand that wine glasses should be produced when delivering wine. • Your chef should know better and never, ever assume he can cut costs by selling the dregs from his kitchen. • A poor dining experience costs you more than you think. We would have ordered dessert, and more importantly returned for a second meal in the next week – WE DIDN’T! I have a friend coming from Ireland in November – do I risk taking her to the Anchor?"
