"Mugen has hands down the best Japanese food in London. Fresh, beautifully prepared, and consistently delicious. We’ve been several times and the quality never disappoints. However, the service this time was shockingly poor and genuinely unpleasant. There seems to be only one staff member fluent in English, an Indian runner who initially greeted us warmly, remembering us from a previous visit. Unfortunately, a mistake was made with our order (we asked for a salmon roll and received a salmon bowl instead), and when we tried to clarify, the same staff member became extremely aggressive. He began loudly arguing with us, insisting we had ordered the wrong item and refusing to change it. It escalated to the point where he was shouting at our table and wouldn’t allow us to correct the order — it was uncomfortable and humiliating. Despite the poor handling, we chose to keep the service charge out of respect for the rest of the team, who were professional. But the lack of apology and the awkward attempt to joke with us on the way out made the situation worse. We love the food and would return — but next time, we’ll ask to be served by someone else. This kind of behaviour is completely unacceptable and needs to be addressed. David. I recently dined at this restaurant and absolutely loved it. It is one of the best places to have sushi in London. It may be necessary to make an early reservation. While it is a bit expensive, the quality and taste of the food was exceptional. As a sushi lover, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

We decided to spend an evening at Mugen, seeking a satisfying meal, and we were not disappointed. The karaage was tender and flavorful on the inside, crispy and delicious on the outside. The chicken katsu curry was perfectly cooked and full of rich flavor. I can't wait to return and sample more of the menu. Overall, a fantastic experience!

Food and service here are marvellous. The menu is plentiful enough to cater to all. The bento box really is outstanding value and you get plenty of different things to try. Most of us got the eel bento and one of us got the chirashi bento. Both came with edamame , miso soup, miso grilled salmon, assorted tempura, a piece of Japanese fried chicken and french beans and lettuce in sesame sauce. The mixed tempura included sweet potato, lotus root and prawns. The batter wasn't all crunchy, but overall it was nice. Some of us got an assorted sushi sashimi combination which included nigiri.
