"Well my first visit was long overdue so off we trotted for a lunch On arrival the fire was well and truly alive and was very welcoming Great choice of ales from the thwaites range Menus were placed on table for us to peruse over and the fish of the day was explained to us So choices made Starters 1 crab tian,1 beetroot risotto and 1 seafood tempura Mains 1 pork belly , 1rack of lamb and 1 steak and kidney pudding Puddings were 2 Lemon and lime creme brûlée and 1 sticky toffee apple pudding The crab needed a cracker or bread that was the only issue with the food and one of the servers decided to place the mains cutlery down on the table while we were eating the starters .... little niggle as this could of waited Will I return YES you bet your last dollar I will , so much so that I’ve already spoke to others about Dates they are free to go Looking forward to our next trip"

"The waiter has an ' I don 't care ' attitude ' we ordered the gammon dish, fish and chips, flatbread and lasagne, the gammon was very skimpy, which is OK if your on a diet, flat bread was OK, fish was good and the lasagne came out burnt, it was dry and crispy, we couldn 't even cut it with a steak knife, it should never have even left the kitchen, I seriously think it was an over cooked leftover, after complaining it was changed for fish and chips, on all the dishes, the chips came out lukewarm and are of a poor quality frozen chip, when it came to my bill, I was charged for something that I didn 't have and instead on a refund, the waiter made a lame excuse up about his glasses and the tablet he was using, I told him I wasn 't at all happy, I 'll never go here again and I don 't recommend this establishment."

"I came here for my friend's wedding in October and the hall was absolutely gorgeous. The grounds were incredible and the onsite cafe did the best full English! Rooms: I stayed in the Shepherds Hut on my own, the double bed was comfortable and the bonus of having an ensuite was great. The tea/coffee station was a welcoming site the morning after the wedding. Food drinks: The food at the Heritage Cafe was incredible. I went here for breakfast both days of my stay and the staff were really accommodating to my dietary requirements and very quick with the service. The price for what you got was great! As I was at the Hall for a wedding, my friend had opted for the Afternoon Tea as her wedding breakfast and the food was amazing. I really loved the little cup of soup (might need to ask for the recipe) and the chocolate/cherry mousse was my favourite out of the desserts. Rooms: 4 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Great view, Quiet, Great value"

"Seriously completely understand there are changes this week to hospitality but my god! Walked in to reception and it was unattended, happy with that, sanitised and read the rules, got seated and then we were asked to move after we moved our seats 30cms, what a drama?! Felt like we had Covid! Starters fine. Nipped outside for literally 10 seconds to be head hunted, told off for not following the one way system that we were not informed of and then to be told our food was now sitting on the hot plate waiting came in straight away mains served, I have no words for the **** I got served, I would of have better at KFC and that’s ****. The waiter basically said the burger was in the state it was because it was vegan wow I had no words by this point, vegan should not be a factor, it’s a **** dish on your menu, if you were a decent waiter you would have tried all your dishes and know that you can actually get a vegan burger to taste and be consist of an actual burger made of meat nowadays and not be a sodden mess. You have ruined our date night, that doesn’t **** happen that often and your getting paid for this, just as a tip, I work hard, as does everyone and want to spend my money on things I enjoy! I would hope the staff in your restaurant would have the same appreciation but I really don’t feel that was the case never wrote a review like this and dine out once or twice a week.... sat here starving contemplating a takeaway happy date night to us"

"We'd been to the Boars Head once before for a light lunch, which had been fine, but this time we brought the family for a proper Sunday lunch. The restaurant and bar were very busy, but we were given a friendly welcome and service throughout was unflustered, unobtrusive, prompt and excellent. Altogether, we had three different starters, six different adult main courses and five different desserts and every item on every plate was superb well cooked, well presented and delicious. This is definitely our new favourite restaurant and I can't wait to go back."
