I had booked by telephone for 5 people for lunch and given the season I was very kindly and logically offered the possibility of being able to choose at the moment, arriving a little early, whether to stay outside or inside. We arrived a little early and opted for the outside. Nothing to say about the location, because it is directly in the beautiful amphitheater square. It is actually a tavern, because it reflects the spartan layout of the tables, but not simplistic/minimal and I would say that it goes very well. Welcomed with great availability and kindness by the staff and, I believe, one of the owners. Ordered two large platter starters of cold cuts, cheeses, honey and jam, which are for four people and were very good, although lacking in Tuscan crostini and bruschettine. I took homemade tortelli (I 'm not from Lucca, but I told the very kind waitress to call them and write tordelli lucchesi on the menu, since they are a source of pride and an excellent Lucchese specialty. with meat ragù: excellent and with plenty of ragù. Pici cacio e pepe which were good and very full of cheese: a little heavy for my daughter but good, excellent for me. Pici with burrata, pistachios and bacon were decent but could be improved, due to the burrata having dried out and making the dish too thick. Pici with Cinta Senese white ragù simply fantastic. Lots of Ragù (finally a restaurant that seasons its dishes well! , not greasy, not heavy and very, very tasty. A second course of chicken and potatoes, whose name I don 't remember on the menu: a nice portion, very well presented, with sauce and really, really well done and excellent. Small problem with a small bottle of natural water at room temperature which, despite the search by the very kind and helpful waiter, was not found and we took one from the fridge. Two coffees. We were also given a discount and the final cost was excellent. At the checkout I complimented the tordelli, the pici with cinta ragù and the chicken. Excellent tavern! I will definitely return to try other dishes."
