"The food at this restaurant is decent, with a good selection of drinks and helpful, friendly staff in a pleasant, airy building. However, my only complaint is the hot drinks, which should be the main focus of any cafe. The cappuccinos were consistently flat, lukewarm, bitter, and not worth the £2.95 price for a ‘regular’ size. My friends' latte and flat white had more froth than my cappuccino. In an attempt to play it safe, I opted for a pot of tea, which was served in an infuser teapot with loose leaf tea, but alas, there were not enough tea leaves used which resulted in a weak, unsatisfying brew. It appears to be a lack of staff training, especially in the preparation of cappuccinos."

There is a large selection of light meals and morning tea items to choose from. The coffee's were ok, the scones Cranberry Tea cake were ok. The venue is nice and airy. The whole experience was ok.

We call in every time we go to Shrewsbury and the experience never differs, spotlessly clean, lovely staff, excellent coffee, exceptional cooking and cakes. Palmer's is a understated and dependable delight, an abject lesson of how all cafes should be.

What a great find, had a nice little lunch here today and great that our dog was welcome inside too due to the cold. Lots of space and comfy sofas. Certainly recommend the courgette and avocado cake which was excellent. Prices all very reasonable. Definitely return on our next Shrewsbury visit. Speisekarte ansehen

Popped in on the spur of the moment and was pleasantly surprised at the great selection of both drinks and food. Sufficient to meet most peoples whims and wishes. Very pleasant and attentive staff. We both thoroughly enjoyed our chosen lunch. Apart from exterior sitting there is much more inside and also another room which forms a library.

Fantastic coffee house right in Shrewsbury town centre. Amazing quality coffee and food, ideal for lunch and the staff are so nice. I also love what Palmer’s do in the community, they care for the homeless, have a pay it forward scheme that helps support them and have a charity quiz night on the last Thursday of every month for their homeless charity, Kyle’s Home. Just beautiful

Spent time in Shrewsbury with wife now we are able to move around a bit with Covid restrictions eased. Saw this place and decided to go in for lunch. Place was large, open and inviting. The staff were very helpful and efficient. Food came quickly and was nice and hot. Also, tasted really good. If you are looking for a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal, I would definitely come here. No pretense of being something they are not. Honest and humble establishment. Speisekarte ansehen

Don’t be fooled that this is only a Community Cafe. The fact that they are a Community Cafe, means that they are supporting a local community that will generally be unseen or ignored by society, such is the way of things these days. They are clearly providing a service supporting an element of the population, doing some fantastic work. Yes, I appreciate that this all sounds a bit patronising, but I assure you, this is meant with a 100% sincerity. Anyway, freshly made sandwiches coffee that was better than most pubs restaurant’s we have visited. Highly, highly recommended.

I have been to this restaurant twice with my friends. The staff are always friendly and accommodating. I tried the ham and salad sandwich and lemon drizzle cake, both of which were delicious. One suggestion I have is to number the tables so that customers can easily identify their table number when ordering. Currently, it seems like the staff are having trouble locating the correct customers to deliver their food or drinks. During my first visit, I was asked where I was sitting, and during my second visit, I was given a spoon with a number. Despite this, the staff were still wandering around looking for the right customers.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
