"I visited Peggotty’s Tea Shoppe with friends after a recommendation from someone living locally. We had the Tenterden Special Afternoon Tea which was £17pp and included a sandwich, a fruit or plain homemade scone, served with homemade jam and clotted cream, a slice of cake and a pot of loose leaf tea or a cup of filter coffee. The tea room is quaint and very small in size so booking is definitely required. We arrived 10 minutes early for our table and did not receive the warmest of welcome, so I would say don’t turn up any earlier than your booked time as there is no space to sit and wait for your table. I decided to try the camomile tea but didn’t enjoy the taste but the English breakfast tea was really nice. All the food tasted amazing; the sandwich fillings were so flavoursome, we had smoked salmon and cream cheese, BLT, prawn and avocado brie and streaky bacon. We all chose the fruit scone and they were so warm and fluffy. The rolo cake tasted lovely but not an overpowering rolo taste that I was hoping for! The price was incredibly reasonable, I just wish the service was friendlier as I just felt disappointed after our visit as if we were an inconvenience to them."

It's always a treat to have lunch at Peggotty's I love the prawn jackets and my husband has TWO bacon sarnies. We often travel form Maidstone JUST to go to Peggotty's

Love this cafe. We regularly stop for coffee but looking around the food always looks good. Love to sit outside. Very polite staff and great coffee. They have a garden out the back too.

I visited this place for lunch with a friend. The weather was warm and sunny so we were able to enjoy our lunch in the pretty garden. The service was friendly and helpful. We both had sandwiches and cream teas, which were delicious and very fresh (regular and gluten free). Highly recommended

A quaint, old-fashioned tea shop (one of those places which evokes thoughts of Miss Marple with welcoming, friendly, helpful staff. We only called in for a cup of coffee (which was very good but it looked like there were some tasty snacks on the menu. We will, more than likely, return to try one of those snacks. Visited for afternoon tea. Very warm welcome. The afternoon tea was lovely. Good choice of sandwich and cake and scone. Sandwiches were very tasty and freshly made. The scones were served warm with lots of cream and jam and the tea was finished off with homemade cake. Could not fault the afternoon tea or the lovely lady who looked after us. Treat yourself.

Looked like a lovely little tea room so thought why not, let’s pop in. Lovely ambience about the place and grabbed a window seat. Wife had the leek potato soup with a delicious cheese scone. I went for the Peggoties Cream Tea, Scone, jam and cream were sublime. The actual leaf tea was fabulous. Took the coffee Walnut cake home for supper. Not the cheapest tea room but you get what you pay for and the quality was superb. Very friendly staff. Overall a lovely experience.

Nice little spot in the High Street with tables in the front and also in the back garden, which was very quiet and ideal for a quiet lunch or Brunch. Unfortunately the service did not match the surroundings and I could have walked out as there were 3 other tables that got served before us and had also.arrived after us and they were all served before us. It made me feel as if I was insignificant or even invisible. After being served a pot of tea we waited at least 25 minutes for a cup of coffee and a scone with avacado and smoked salmon and a cream tea. We were told that everything was freshly cooked. I then guessed that someone had gone fishing for the salmon, also picking the avacadoes and... Speisekarte ansehen

My wife and I went to Peggotty’s Tea Shoppe in Tenterden for an Afternoon Tea for Two, having been gifted a voucher from friends of ours. We have had afternoon teas on a few previous occasions at other places but to be honest, whist this establishment is somewhat smaller than previous places, Peggotty’s is the best by far. In the hotels we’ve been before for teas for two apart from explaining any dietary restrictions you do not get any choice of food options. At Peggotty’s you choose the type of sandwich including the filling, you choose the type of scone, you choose the type of cake, you choose the flavour of tea or coffee. Basically, you get what you want, not what the establishment choose...

Wow!! What a find! Could not believe how beautiful this little gem of a place was! On entering we were offered seating in the garden (as was an exceptionally lovely day! and what a beautiful feel the garden had! so very inviting and relaxing! We were then served by a lovely waitress who certainly catered for all our needs! and this was only the start.........as I really did not expect to experience such an outstanding lunch!! I feel that nowadays it is a real rarity to be served real quality food, but oh boy did Peggotty's restore my faith!! I could not fault this establishment in anyway whatsoever! Absolutely outstanding!! Every piece of food was so freshly made and the quality was exceptio...

"Our excitement to see this café open allowed us an opportunity for some needed refreshment . Oh a cup of tea and a slice of cake or a little available small snack was what we needed . We were told by an employee sit down we come to you , so we did .. Another staff member standing behind the counter looked over and frumpy look called the cook who had the same frumpy look and went back to cooking , We : waited , waited , waited , waited and saw the frumpy counter woman still in the same spot , we waited and waited then left , maybe she was glued to the floor . We looked left and saw a pub named the Pheasant, oh drink and food , renewed enthusiasm and excitement we entered to staff who couldn 't do enough, so professional and warrants praise and a revisit , after a while we left and waited outside for our taxi , looking over we saw the cafe closed , ahhhhh it all came together and understanding that we was an inconvenience to the café as they was closing in half an hour after our visit , How long would it have taken to make a cup of tea for two? , us drink it , then how long would it have taken them to wash up the cups ? , they still would have twenty minutes for the woman to be unglued, our first impressions were of a cafe with many seats and a welcoming atmosphere, the woman employee sitting at the front table working was professional and welcoming the tables were clean and we kept our excitement as we waited , our excitement and enthusiasm faded, we left happily for the woman glued to the floor , we are appreciating the effort of the lady at the table who was seriously let down by the others , thank you for your efforts , apart from her professional customer service skills our Eureka moment to see the café open wasn 't to last , sorry to the staff member at the table I 'm very sure the service we had wouldn 't have been what you would have given , this review seems strong in tone but it 's our experience in here that day.. . I am not now able to show enthusiasm for another visit , I would have loved having that day and opportunity to empty my wallet a little and a little bit more on what would have been another visit , sorry no Eureka moment taken away that day."
