"My partner and I visited on Saturday evening having had a Virgin Experience Days voucher for the Beatles Story and a three course meal at the R Bar and Brasserie. As it was part of a bundle we fully expected a reduced menu from what’s available on the website, and this was indeed the case. The starter I chose, calamari, was lovely but that’s where any loveliness began and ended. The tagliatelle I ordered for the main was abysmal, and had zero taste to it with the creamy sauce having less taste than a can of white emulsion. After 2 mouthfuls (the second I was hoping to be an improvement on the first , I had no choice but to leave the food. My partner ordered the burger which again did not meet expectations. When the waiting staff came to take our dessert order, we had to repeat it twice as she wasn’t listening the first time having been distracted by something on the TV screens behind us, followed by a “sorry what was that?”. You know how waiting staff often ask if you’re ready for them to take your order, well we came close to having to ask her that instead! The desserts we chose were subpar once again, with the lemon tarte being smothered in thick vanilla cream to the point you couldn’t taste the lemon the pastry casing was also the same one my partner had his goats cheese tartlet in for his starter. My partner’s brownie looked like something you’d stick in the microwave after you’ve picked it up from Iceland. Food aside, the restaurant itself wasn’t too great either. The decor, whilst not to our taste, we can accept was okay, but the cleanliness was poor. The coffee machines to the left of our table were filthy from splash marks, the carpet was covered in crumbs and dropped food and the (white! seats were very stained. It’s a shame because after reading the reviews from other visitors we thought we were getting a good deal as part of the bundle but being honest it’s the worst meal we’ve ever had (and I’m re experiencing it today as my stomach just won’t settle! . I hope this is a one off and we just visited you on a bad day, as surely being part of a voucher bundle would give you the exposure to gain to repeat custom moving forward, and this isn’t your normal standard."

Booked via group on definitely wasn't disappointed ! Food and service was great. Amazing value for money 3 course meal for 2 and a bottle of wine for £40. Lovely venue too.

I visited the Richmond restaurant on Valentine's night, me and my partner had the set menu of £35 for Great value of food and service. The atmosphere was warming and I will definitely be returning for further special occasions.

Visited last night and the food was magnificent, service excellent and good value for money. Can not recommend it more, it really is worth the visit. We had the creamy mushroom starter, out of this world, haddock, delicious and warm brownie, yummy.

Despite being short-staffed when we arrived, our waiter provided excellent service and made our dining experience very accommodating. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious, which more than made up for the initial staffing issues. Overall, it is a very nice restaurant.

Went here on Friday for Afternoon tea with my daughter and mum. The hotel decor is fab, spotless with hand sanitiser stations. The waiter and waitress made us feel really welcome. Had afternoon tea with two friends here using a Groupon deal. Was absolutely beautiful! The food was great and the selection of savouries and sweet treats were delicious, together with a glass of prosecco each. One of our party was vegetarian and she was given her own stand with lovely, unusual options for the sandwiches, which she was very pleased with. The service was excellent and tea was unlimited. The room is beautiful and we had a lovely few hours excellent value for money and highly recommended!

Beautiful dining room and very helpful, friendly staff. Afternoon tea was beautifully presented but a bit disappointing cheap, nasty ham on one sandwich...wouldn't cost much to buy some decent ham but the other sandwiches were lovely with plenty of filling. Prawns were big and juicy. Lots of cakes scones were light and tasty with clotted cream and jam. Petit Fours all seemed bought in and had been previously frozen as the pastry was very soggy, they tasted nice but would have preferred home made. Mini carrot cake was divine and tasted home made but the others were just quite mushy and probably shop bought.
