"During a rainy day visit to Inveraray Jail, I stopped in for a coffee and snack. The special of the day was Cullen Skink, a traditional Scottish haddock soup with potatoes, onions, and cream. Served in a large bowl with bread rolls, it was piping hot and incredibly tasty. The chunks of haddock in the soup were huge. At around £7 or £8, it was a great value. I couldn't stop raving about how delicious it was to my family members. The people at the next table also ordered it and had nothing but praise. While the other snacks were good, I was too preoccupied with my love for the Cullen Skink to notice."

Yes. I was greeted by a young fellow who was polite and must admit a happy person.

Visited the café both en route and returning from Crear for our daughter’s wedding. Karl is super friendly welcoming, in fact all staff were fantastic. The food was delicious too! Will definitely return on next visit!

Correct restaurant that offers simple, not too expensive, without more. The Loch Fyne is renowned for the quality of fishes yet those offered in this restaurant are fried and tasteless. The staff is nevertheless welcoming and the service is fast. Speisekarte ansehen

Local simple and without big pretenses and but a little expensive compared to the average. However very good dinner, choosing strictly local dishes (useless to choose pizza and above all pasta complaining that they are not as good as at our home ....

I had dinner trying to risk a pizza in Scotland. Pizza seafood, very well stuffed, but the pasta is what surprised me most, cooked well, slightly crisp, I was positively impressed to personally compliment pizzaiolo. The service was also fast and friendly. The 80s music in the background made everything very pleasant. I recommend everyone to try to believe

I paid a steep price of £14 for a disappointing meal of battered fish and only 6 chips. The food was subpar and the service was very poor. I will not be returning to this cafe again, as the prices are more fitting for a central London or Paris establishment, not a village in Scotland. I left the cafe still hungry and had to find another place to eat proper food. Overall, not a good experience. Speisekarte ansehen

During our second day in Scotland, my wife and I had lunch at the Royal Burgh Cafe after arriving from New York, USA. The waiter recommended the Cullen Skink (6.95 GBP), which was a delicious seafood soup unlike anything we've had in the US. My wife enjoyed a tasty Tuna Mayo Sandwich (4.35 GBP). It's worth noting that the waiters are very polite and allow patrons to take their time; just make sure to get their attention when you're ready to order or pay.

Called in while on a coach tour. Ordered cullen skink (which was lovely) and a roll and sausage and a cappucinno. Roll was dry and sausage was so hard it couldnt be eaten. No coffee. 20 minutes later i asked for my coffee. Waiter looked blank even though he had written it down. 10 minutes later i had to go to the counter and ask about the cappucinno again. They finally brought it by which time i had to leave to get back on the coach.A terrible advert for Scottish tourism.Avoid at all costs!

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
