"I am sad to say it was the worst Chinese I 've had and some was unbeatable. The chicken balls had something in the middle that was soft and almost spreadable. No way was it chicken. The rice had tiny bits of bone in which broke my filling which cost me over £70 today. The chow mein was bland and again the 'chicken in it was vile. I thought it was uncooked fish. We spent £80 yesterday. The beef dish again the beef looked boiled. The Singapore noodles were too spicy to eat. Other dishes included squid and king prawns but I didn 't eat those. Won 't go back. Only went as my usual one was closed. Worst birthday meal I 've ever had!"

£6.90 now for a Duck Curry with fried rice, a rise of over £1 since my last visit, and to make matters worse a very small quantity of duck meat. Service was pleasant and fast delivery, but the value is just not there.

The food is delicious and the service is friendly. My only criticism is that they do not accept credit cards. Instead, they direct you to an ATM, which is quite a distance away and surrounded by questionable individuals.

Had not been here for a number of years, but was glad to have come back,it has improved a lot. By far the best value in Margate, and with fast and pleasant service. £5.30 for duck Curry and Fried rice. Good amount of duck, roasted with tasty skin left on. Speisekarte ansehen

Title speaks for itself, literally nothing on the menu that I’ve ordered that I didn’t love. Chowmein, curry, satay, seaweed, wontons etc.. Always fresh tasting, piping hot and great quality. Let us also take a moments silence for the chicken balls…. Could not recommend enough!

We have dined at New Shanghai three times now, and each time the food has been absolutely delicious. The main dishes are full of flavor, the rice is cooked perfectly, and the chips are tasty. The service is excellent, with very friendly staff. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Just moved to the area so used this chinese takeaway for the first time today. Phoned up to order and was told could collect in 20 minutes. Food was hot and tasty and the service impeccable. Had a spicy chicken curry, chow mein, prawn toast and chicken balls, all great. Will definitely use again. Thank you, Sean. Speisekarte ansehen

I usually order the Duck Curry with Fried Rice at this restaurant and it is an amazing value at £5.60. I have paid over £9 for the same dish at other places in the area. The duck was roasted, not boiled, and had a tasty sauce with plenty of it. The Fried Rice was cooked well, not soggy, and had a pleasant texture and flavor.

We were recommended this place by some of our airbnb guests, so we thought we would give it a try. Not disappointed it was fab! Tasty ribs, crispy duck, prawn toast, Szechuan, and a veggie dish which was delicious (can't remember what it was called though). We ordered around £70 of food for 6 of us and completely over ordered. Portions were really generous.

"Having been raised at the knees of Caribbean and African women, sometimes I’m just in need of some soul food. I’ve often gone past Mullins and seen that it is busy, and looks bright, clean, warm and friendly. And it is. The decor works really well. Low-key, warm and welcoming. Music is a soothing stream of lilting Caribbean classics. The waiting staff are lovely. So friendly. And the menu looks great. There isn’t too much of it, and it is quite hard to choose because it all sounds amazing. Price points are really good. But. The food is genuinely terrible. I went for a Creole fish stew. I don’t know how you can make a stew without flavour. When you are cooking things slowly and together, flavour infuses flavour. But not here. This was a good sized portion of piping hot well presented food. But my God it tasted awful. Basically chopped potato surrounded by small lumps of bland unidentifiable white fish, half a dozen mussels, some of which were still closed, and therefore inedible, and three flavourless prawns in shells. There was a pinch of Samphire on the top, and this was the sum total of the vegetables I could find. It came in what I can only describe as a thick red sauce. If there was tomato in it, there was no flavour to it. It was highly salty, and this was the dominant flavour throughout. The fish had no flavour of fish, and it was intensely spiced in a lip plumping way. Essentially, it was all heat and salt. With a slight tang of gents toilets. I suspect this was from the mussels. I did raise the blandness twice with the waiter, and the strange unpleasant toilet flavour. He said he would tell chef. And that was that. No feedback on the dreadful flavour other than that it was all fresh. I ate the entirety of the meal because I had travelled a long way and had not eaten. I saw it simply as fuel. It was not enjoyable. I paid and left. Mullins is so close to getting everything right, but a restaurant is its food. I’m not going back."
