"Swedish angle to a good menu. Starters were good but a little expensive for what they were. Mains were the best course of the evening. My venison was exceptional. Desert was the weakest dishes of the evening. Small but well chosen wine list, though again a little pricey. Service was engaging and the room comfortable. Overall a recommendation and difficult to beat anywhere in Wargrave, Henley or Twyford."

"We've been to Orwell's multiple times and we will definitely be returning. The food just keeps getting better and more innovative each visit, and the wine pairing was perfect. Ryan provided us with a personalized sommelier experience and all the staff were laid-back and welcoming. "As a Texan living in the UK I usually avoid Mexican food because it wholly disappoints. But I was intrigued by the reviews. Overall I was very pleased. Marguaritas were fresh and light with a tart bite, and guacamole was excellent. I would argue that the Tex Mex menu isnt you can't ignore am enchilada in that catagory! I had the Conchinita tacos. Pork was tender and flavorful, although the onions were to sweet and sticky for this kind of dish. Rice and refried beans were spot on. Service was fantastic. Overall great night, and I would definitely return."

"Food was exceptionally good as was the atmosphere. We thought the scallop starter was fantastic and the flavours in the cod and chorizo main course delicious. The BBQ broccoli was delightful. In fact all the food was very flavourful, and we felt we could have selected anything from a very interesting menu and had a ‘menu winner’. Service was good, friendly and willing in what is quite a busy restaurant, although didn’t quite match the (very high) standards of the food. A couple of times we had to hand back empty bottles and dirty glasses that were no longer needed. The staff also missed their chances to upsell us on bread and vegetables. But the waiters/resses were all charming and helpful and with a little more experience will also be exceptional soon we are sure. All the best to this new and exciting team!"

"The food and coffee were very good. We were out with friends that we have known for 40+ years. We knew we would have a good evening. How could it go so wrong?Service. Customer Service does anyone remember what this was? We had a table booked for 7pm. It was reserved. So far, so good. The menu was limited but we knew the pub had changed hands and was being upgraded. No problem. We were not given a wine list. We ordered house wine and beer. After ordering the food appeared in a timely fashion. They served three of us and then asked if there was anything else we needed. The fourth guest said she would like her meal, please. The waitress visited the kitchen and returned saying the Chef had forgotten to cook her meal but he would treat it as a priority. It didn’t take that long but could have been handled more tactfully. At 9:06 we were asked if we had finished and would like to pay. We had only just ordered coffee from another of the six or so waiters, chatting behind the bar we’d had to go to the bar to order more wine. This despite the fact that there were only two other tables occupied. The coffee arrived and soon after we paid the bill (adding a tip despite the lack of service). We lingered for a while as we hadn’t seen one another for several months. The other diners left and about 9:25 the lights were dimmed. There were several other customers still drinking. We realised we were expected to leave and, still in relatively good humour left the pub restaurant. We were saying our goodbyes when a young waiter raced out of the door and rudely, in a loud voice, asked if we had paid! We said that we had. He then told us to wait while he went in to check! I think at that point I had really had enough and explained how offended I was to be asked in the first place but then not to be believed was totally disrespectful. I had not been to the establishment for several years and certainly will not be repeating the experience."
