"This is about an incredibly disappointing experience my family and I had at the Aztec Temple Restaurant at Chessington Aztec Hotel on the evening of 11th April. When we arrived, there was no staff at the check in kiosk. After several minutes of waiting and searching, we finally found someone to check us in. Despite the chaos, we were asked to pay approx. £100 UPFRONT, even before being seated. Just minutes later after being seated, we were told by a staff member that the restaurant was closing despite having just been seated and having paid full price. There had been no prior warning at the time of payment that the buffet would close imminently. The food options were limited and poor. The starters included just two options: a Thai style poppadum and a bland savory pastry. The salad bar featured limp vegetables and stale beans certainly not worthy of the price that seemed extortionate. It was clear the buffet had already begun winding down before we even arrived, yet we were still charged full price. When we raised the issue, the manager assured us we could take our time and that the restaurant would stay open for us to finish. However, just minutes later, another staff member contradicted this, reminding us again the restaurant was closing. This back and forth left us feeling rushed, nagged, and incredibly uncomfortable. To make matters worse, both I and my child experienced digestive discomfort and acidity later that evening undoubtedly caused by being rushed into eating substandard food under pressure. What should have been a relaxed family meal turned into a stressful, overpriced, and physically uncomfortable experience. I formally escalated the complaint the next morning (12th April), while still at the resort, but no one from the team contacted us during the remainder of our stay. The response we later received was dismissive suggesting the matter could only be handled at the time, despite us raising it in real time. We have been offered a 20% discount for a future visit which is both inadequate and impractical, as we clearly mentioned that we have no intention of returning. We feel misled, let down, and ignored. Guests deserve better communication, respect, and value for their money. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

Gone rapidly down hill. As price goes up, quality sinks like a Led Zeppelin. Staff pleasant. Buffet is just sugar and starch. Price per person: £30–40 Food: 1 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2

I went for breakfast and it was excellent. It's a self-service setup, and everything is freshly cooked. Like all Merlin restaurants, they offer only the best orange and apple juice. Highly recommended! Speisekarte ansehen

I highly recommend avoiding this restaurant! After dining here, I suffered from food poisoning, which was quite painful. Additionally, some of the staff were quite rude, and the prices were far too high for the quality of food I received. Overall, I was very disappointed.

The food was OK, albeit some was pretty bad eg the beef was so tough it was inedible and the ice cream tasted bizarre. My main issue is I paid 60 in advance to find out it was 50 for the four of us on the door, so booking in advance is a con. We tried to resolve this and seek a partial refund after, but reception send me to the temple bar duty manager who sent me back to reception, so I gave up.

Poor poor poor quality, had dinner, paid 16 for the pleasure of having all cutlery being dirty, had to fish through the cutlery tray to find items I would risk letting my family put in their mouths. Roasted joints were dry and overcooked, roasted potatoes had hard centres, like they were just picked, a real disappointment all round. Would not recommend. We are having breakfast in the morning so watch this space. Speisekarte ansehen

We had booked a meal as an addition to our hotel stay and were surprised to find out that it was a buffet. The staff were friendly, but the restaurant itself was quite disappointing. It felt more like a school cafeteria, and we couldn't help but laugh at the fact that I had prepaid $65 to eat what felt like cafeteria food. The experience was genuinely terrible, and breakfast was just as bad. As a result, we’ve decided not to eat at this hotel for the rest of our stay.

good choice of breakfast, including full English and continental options. eating was fresh and hot when we arrived. can't complain. more than a coffee pender needs, like created waiting snakes and the watered juice not very nice. the personal tried to delete the tables quickly. also the social distancing, which is not respected by anyone, and the personal has not implemented it. also had dinner, which due to a sunday was a caries. many meat options and vegetables. not many possibilities for children fish finger and sausages under the counter? and bad choice of desserts. only ice and churros. refill drinks that were previously included in the price, but now they are extra charged. also ask fo...

"The island was open from 12 noon and our table was reserved for 12.15 pm as we planned to do something else later in the afternoon. However, the food was only just being set out and cooked, so was not ready until well after 12.30 pm. As it happened, this did not matter as our plans changed for the afternoon and so we could relax and spend the afternoon on Ravens Ait watching the world go by. The staff were nice but harried to start with in getting everything ready. Some didn't seem to know what the arrangement regarding the food was, eg whether tea/coffee was included or an extra charge. The food was generally good, but the hot containers did a poor job of keeping the food hot, and we were amongst the first to be served, so not sure how I would have liked eating later and getting a colder meal. The gluten free loaf of bread was a poor relation, gluten free rolls would have been a better option. I was told that gluten free rolls were taken by non g/f customers so that was why they did not have them. rather a lame reason to have a cheap alternative I felt. Also, the variety of cold salads was nothing special, being gluten free, a rice salad should have been included, not just the pasta, and I think there was a couscous but it is not gluten free. Overall, more imagination is required to make this a better eating experience, but of course the location will always attract customers."
