The Astley - Speisekarte

Simply wow, great atmosphere, lovely clean bright place and very welcoming. The food was great start to finish and would strongly recommend the sticky toffee pudding cheesecake. Will definitely be back soon!

We’ve been here numerous times for lunch and always left pleased with the food and service. The menu is huge something for everyone here. We love the chicken jalfrezi and Cajun chicken. Large portions and all home cooked. They also do amazing cheesecakes that you can take away for later (there’s never enough room for dessert! we love the biscoff one!

Very impressed with the food and service. We telephoned on the off chance they would have a table for 8 and a dog straight away which to our delight they did. We had a concern when we arrived as the carpark was empty which isn't always a good sign. However, all the meals were enjoyed and the service was exceptional. Toilets were lovely and clean. We booked a table for a party of twelve for a family birthday. Our table was waiting for us when we arrived. On ordering there were a couple of things we chose that they had run out of which was disappointing but not the end of the world. All the food was delicious, large portions and well cooked, we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were pleasant and helpful. I'd seen some negative reviews just before we came which worried me a bit but no need, we had a nice relaxed evening with good food.

Not visited for a while as our last experience wasn’t good but thought we’d give it another try, won’t be going back, had to go and ask them if they’d take our order having been sat at the table 20 minutes with nobody coming to us, the Carvery is supposed to be on until 6pm, booked a table for 5 at 5pm for family who all wanted a carvery, came to order at 5.20pm ‘sorry no carvery left’ !! Same happened last time………! Not the best place with family either, table next to us very loud, getting shots after shots, swearing, not great when your with your family and a two year old…..won’t be returning…far better places around here….

I have been to this restaurant a number of times. The food is very good, but the standards of hygiene and the service have taken a tumble. We sat on one of the high tables next to the window which had about 20 Big black flies on the blinds we moved tables immediately then waited waited for our drinks (arrived 20 minutes later our food arrived quickly but we had no cutlery I went to the bar and got them myself my husband asked for vinegar when it arrived the vinegar inside the bottle was cloudy looked like it had something growing in the bottle a Second bottle was given to us, which was worse than the first one. This place needs to change its outside signs as we have lived in the area for 5 year and always assumed it to be a grotty working man’s club. I called in with my parents and baby on the way to astley park and was pleasantly surprised, so much so my husband brought the other 2 kids after school to meet for tea. Loads of option and prices are very very fair. 3 of us had burgers all of which were very good, not the cheap frozen type you might expect. My mum had fish and chips which was massive. In all honesty you just can’t knock it. I 've visited The Astley before a few months ago and was impressed with our experience. So I returned this evening and wish I hadn 't bothered. First of all, the lights where off on the wall so we was sat in near enough darkness. When asked if they could switch them on I was told no, there was 'technical issues '. Fair enough. When we ordered the waitress came back 3 times to ask us to change our order as they had ran out of gammon, chicken and ham pie and jelfrazi curry. The food then took a further hour to arrive, after a member of the party asking how long it was going to be he was told 5 minutes we are next but watched the waitress come out with the table next to ours food. The food itself was very nice, with good sized portions however it its the front of house that massively let 's this place down. It was dreadful and non existent. Supposedly had table service, but the drinks took forever and a day to arrive when ordered (the pub was fairly quiet at this time too). Food arrived with the waiter quickly placing them on the table and immediately walking off, without asking if we wanted condiments, only to realise we had no cutlery neither, and ignored our calls when requesting them. This happened with both the starter and main. Nobody came to check and see if our meals where fine, after waiting a good while for someone to appear with no luck had to go to the bar...
