"After our first visit we were only too happy to come again, this time with family. But this time it didn't live up to the same standards. Three people ordered medium rare steaks. When they came out one was clearly well done so we complained to our waitress. She disappeared with the steak to discuss it with the chef but didn't apologise. She returned with the original steak saying that the chef said that was how he always cooked medium rare steak. We said this was unacceptable so she took the plate away again. When she subsequently brought it back, whilst it was better it now had peppercorn sauce on instead of the mushroom sauce as ordered. So it was sent back again. Finally a satisfactory outcome but by this time the rest of us had just about finished. We also had an issue with a food intolerance with one of our desserts. Overall a very disappointing experience. We never received an apology and didn't leave a tip (almost unheard of for me as I am usually extremely generous). We haven't been back as there are much better places we have found subsequently that offer better food, service and at a more reasonable price."

"Not been to the star for over 18 years and it's an amazing place now, totally changed from when I used to come . It is a great place from walking through the doors into a well stocked bar ,and the amount of smartly presented and polite staff is good to see . We had a little wait as we came as a large party got a round of drinks in and chatted till we were shown through. The restaurant area is well lit and the decor is well picked . Table perfectly set out for our Sunday lunch . Most had all three courses , I had the oxtail in Yorkshire pudding to start , the roast top side for my main (perfectly cooked complements to the chef ,loads of extra veg again cooked to my liking, and then I had the pecan pie a lovely finish to the meal . Will be coming back soon with the wife as she has always wanted to try it , and I would recommend to anyone best food around ."

"We went to The Griffin for lunch on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is located in the town center and both the exterior and interior were clean and tidy. When we arrived, the pub was not busy and there was only one staff member who was managing the bar, taking orders, and delivering food from the kitchen. Since he was the only one working, we had to order at the bar and there was a delay in getting our food as he was busy serving and chatting with other customers. We had to wait a long time between our starters and main courses, and when the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and just okay. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience due to the lack of staff. We do not plan on returning to The Griffin in the future."

"Walked in to this little place at approximately 12.30 on the 24th July to treat my little girl to an iced coffee. The waitress with a purple t shirt and a pony tail treated me with blatant rudeness and scorn in comparison to other customers that were being served, even slamming my iced coffee on the table without saying a word, knocking a piece of ice onto my foot and no apology. My daughter who is only 11 exclaimed ‘goodness mum, she was rude; she must be jealous of you!’ I challenged this waitress about her attitude calmly, pulled her to one side and asked her if everything was ok. She said she didn’t think so due to the way ‘I stormed in’. Good grief, we walked in normally! My daughter told her to cease her behaviour which was much in line with a 5 year olds. I’d like to say to this girl whatever you have against me which couldn’t have been anything other than jealousy, it’s not an attractive trait, and treating customers like that will not only cost you your job but will threaten the business as a whole. And I’m pretty certain businesses these days can’t afford to be losing customers. Outraged."

"Frequently visit the restaurant but every visit over the last few months has got worse each time. Kept giving the place another chance as either it was convenient to meet friends there or thought maybe they were just having an off day but it seems its every time now. Today finally made me realise just how bad its got. Went for Sunday lunch and it was absolutely terrible! Requested some horse radish sauce as we were having beef when paying for the meal. The waiter brought out a bowl of veg which all looked like it had been warmed up from last week it was so dry and old looking. The Brocoli was grey in places! Hospital food looks better. That was sat there going cold whilst we waited for the rest of the meal to be brought out. Finally they brought the plates of meat out with the Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes. There was 2 small slices of meat on two of the plates, I've had child portions before there with more meat. The third plate had a bit more meat but not a good amount like they used to serve. The roast potatoes were rock hard! Everything lukewarm!! Horse radish sauce didn't appear so after a few minutes I went back to the till and asked again for some. Went back to the table and started to eat some of the meal because it was just about stone cold by this point. After eating half the meal, still no sign of the horse radish sauce so made another trip to the till to ask for a 3rd time for it. There was a woman sorting orders, long hair in a pony tail, I think she could be the restaurant supervisor or something. I said how disappointed we were with the meal and the reasons why and she just shrugged her shoulders and said oh sorry about that and turned away. Rude!! No customer service skills at all. They can't even say it was because they were busy because I've never seen the place so empty on a Sunday could be due to the football being on or maybe a lot of people are now stopping going because the quality is becoming so poor but expensive because they seem to constantly increase their prices but the quality of food and service decreases every time! So very disappointing as it used to be nice."
