The Brasserie At Melville Castle

The food was outstanding, it was the best steak I have ever had and I could not find any faults with it.

Food was excellent. Well presented and correct portion sizes. Service was efficient, attentive and friendly. Don't miss an after dinner drink in the bar!

This restaurant is absolutely delightful. The food was amazing, the setting was stunning, and the value for what we received was fantastic. I highly recommend dining here and also suggest staying at the hotel. Speisekarte ansehen

fabulous afternoon in a beautiful venue. I had always been in a castle and I filled this life-saving dream recently with afternoon tea in melville castle. what a beautiful place! tee, sandwiches, scones and cakes were delicious and let us fill. but want to go back for more! we'll be back soon.

When we visited the restaurant, it was not very busy so it's likely the kitchen wasn't too overwhelmed. Unfortunately, we were not impressed with the food. The haggis bonbons starter was lukewarm and the Caesar salad lacked flavor, except for the smoked chicken. The steak was enjoyable, but the gnocchi was tough and chewy, clearly not homemade (although it wasn't advertised as such). We ended up leaving most of it uneaten. The staff, however, were fantastic and very friendly.

edinburgh has many attractions for visitors to the city, there is the zoo, the theatre, the museums and of course the burg. Where there are visitors, they get bars, restaurants and of course hotels. the royal mile is a magnet for gas houses and taverns for thousands of years, with each contest to get as close to the top as possible. Today nothing really changed, everywhere you can see, there are places to eat, drink and sleep (and buy a cheap one and a filled Scottish dog). there's another one away. Speisekarte ansehen

great place we visited on 10th august for our 10th anniversary john served us. when we told him that it was our special day, he couldn't do enough for us. He was polite, attentive had a great feeling of humor. we hadn't visited this since our high season on 10th august 2008 and were worried that it could not be so perfect. john and the team made us welcome, relaxed and home. Thank you. john for the special hauch that they added to our meal and the entire lock staff for a wonderful stay. best wishes, ben michelle evans

as two mumias of young young (here of two, I of one,) emily and I could not have chosen a better day to plan our overnight to melville castle, which is located at the south tip of edinburgh in direction dalkeith. the sun shared the trees practically while we drove the private way upwards, and as it happens, trees are something with which the lush terrain is quite flush, the bounty setting only 8 miles from the city center. a neogothic herren house, designed by james playfair (brother of william) and built between 1786-90 for henry dundas, 1.count vis melville. in the 1980s the building had been abandoned and ruined, later bought and restored in the 1990s by developer william hay, who wanted...

As two mummies of young boys (her of two, me of one), Emily and I couldn’t have chosen a better day to plan our overnight escape to Melville Castle, which is located on the Southern tip of Edinburgh towards Dalkeith. The sun was virtually splitting the trees as we drove up the private approach road, and as it happens, trees are something the lush grounds are pretty flush with, the bucolic setting a mere 8 miles from the city centre. A neo-gothic mansion house, it was designed by James Playfair (brother of William) and built between 1786-90 for Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville.
