The Britannia Inn Waves

We had a wonderful Sunday Roast at this restaurant yesterday, both opting for the roast lamb. The meal was promptly served and everything was hot. The staff was very attentive, making it a nice start to the upcoming Festive Season.

Great Sunday roast, top quality and plenty of it, lounge bar was perfect along with the staff, my only criticism is whilst chewing I found a piece of string in my food, I pointed this out to the waitress who quietly said sorry. Apart from that was a stunning meal.

Nice pub with lots of space and good outside area. Went twice whilst on holiday, Waves resteraunt service was much more attentive but then I suppose the rest is a pub. Food was of a good standard for a pub without being wow special. Very reasonably priced though for the portions.

I had lunch with some friends at this restaurant today. We had made a reservation as it tends to get busy, but the weather was nice so we decided to sit outside. One of my favourite eateries in the area, I often visit with family and also with friends. The food and service is always of a high standard, the menu itself is mostly basic stuff but well cooked and presented. I am however very disappointed that there isn’t the option of small plates any more. Like a lot of people I have a small appetite and I hate waste. Surely the profit margin is the same? For me it’s not about the cost of the meal but just having what I can eat on my plate. The normal portions are really big. The option of smaller portions gave this establishment an extra tick, sadly not any more.

Fabulous hotel! The reception lady was lovely and showed us to our room. The room was gorgeous, impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. The bed is super comfy and the bed linen was of a gorgeous quality. The bathroom was utterly spotless and beautifully fitted. Dinner in Waves Restaurant was gorgeous too. The staff are attentive and helpful. The food was hot, tasty and a good portion size too (rare to get all 3 elements). Breakfast didn't disappoint either, the coffee was of a good standard and the hot food was simply perfect and again such a big portion. Usually unable to fault the food here, but very disappointed tonight as our meals were blighted by frozen fries, not even what I would call chips, despite the gammon and beer battered cod being advertised in the menu as being served with rustic chips. We pay enough for the food, prices have nearly doubled here, but come on…if you charge £18 for a cod meal, or £19 for a 10oz gammon steak meal, I expect the quality to carry through to the chips you advertise on your menu. We were not warned that rustic chips were not available and that we would have to make do with cheap frozen chips. How can you advertise one thing and then sell well short? Sort it out please.
