"We booked here for a group of 17 people for lunch. All of us preordered beforehand and there was a mix of dietary requirements. Firstly, service was lacking, not very attentive, no check throughout the meal either, the server was very nice but not knowledgable on questions asked. Waiting times were incredibly long, for a three course meal we were still waiting for desserts three hours after arriving. Several people had to leave and cancel their desserts due to the long wait. About an hour or so wait between courses. I had the starter of sweet chilli cauliflower which was delicious, very well cooked and spiced. For main I had the Jerusalem artichoke ravioli, along with four other people in the group, unfortunately this was inedible. The ravioli had been cooked to a soft mush, there was no filling in most of the parcels, the watery sauce was so salty that it really was beyond unpleasant. Everyone who had this dish left some, or all, of the meal. Some of the other diners were unimpressed with their Christmas dinner, especially considering quite a high price point. One diner was given the wrong dish and by the time the correct meal was brought out the rest of the group had finished. When it came to staff taking away plates there was no mention of the left food. One of the diners raised the issue regarding the ravioli dish and was advised it would be fed back. All of us were charged full price for the meals at the till. I declined to pay for mine, as at £15 and half a ravioli parcel eaten, I was not prepared to pay for it. They did accept this and deducted it from my bill, I do feel however this should have been offered when full plates of food had been returned. I did not have a dessert as the vegan option was unfortunately just ice cream. Those that did really enjoyed their desserts however and they were a good size portion, particularly the crumble. Although for me just having had the cauliflower starter, and no breakfast, I left there pretty hungry and nearly fours later! The pub itself and the location is lovely. Not sure if it was just an off day and they were overwhelmed, but based on this experience today I sadly wouldn’t return."

"Despite being a bit pricey, the pub seemed pleasant until I witnessed the landlady yelling at customers at the bar. It turns out they had found something on top of a can and asked for a replacement, but she refused to serve them. The whole situation could have gone unnoticed by the other patrons if the landlady had not made a scene in front of everyone. Her behavior was rude and unnecessary, as she was the only one escalating the situation. If you cannot handle criticism or interact with customers respectfully, you should not be in a customer-facing role. This kind of behavior is unacceptable for a landlady."

"We visited the Wheatsheaf Burton Joyce on Thursday 09/11/2023 for dinner. We had a table for four people. We all had different meals they were lovely. The service was excellent from the whole team but especially both ladies called Mia. They were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. We are all local to the pub and we have not visited for a very long time due to being disappointed with our visits. I must say yesterday evening has definitely changed our opinion and we shall all be returning soon. Thank you for making our visit extremely pleasant."

"First time we have visited this restaurant, we booked a table and on the first impression it looked lovely, we chose a starter and main course, when the starter come it was fairly nice but nothing spectacular, we ordered the chateaubriand at a cost of £85 which was for 2 people which celebrating a special occasion we accepted; when the main meal come out it was slightly disappointing the chips where like very standard frozen oven chips from Iceland and the steak was very basic, I’ve had a lot better for a lot less; the most disappointing bit of the night was the very basic trained staff, not once through the night did we get asked if the meal was cooked fine or to satisfaction ,! When the staff come to collect the dishes they just said have you finished!!!! And to add insult to the poor staffing they automatically added a 10% sevice charge to the bill which I have no problem leaving a tip if it’s up decent standard which this obviously wasn’t, It was such a shame as it looks like the owners have spent a lot of money on the restaurant but not spent the money on the staff training."

"If you are in Calverton or even passing by, call in to this fish bar, they offer take away or.sit in. The staff are amazing and the food cooked fresh and is very tatsy and piping hot. Large selection from Cod, haddock, pies and all the chippy faves, or if you fancy have a kebab. I had cod chips and mushy peas (ofcourse lol) and it was gorgeous crispy batter not fatty or greasy at all. Highly recommend. The restaurant area and serving area are spottless A real nice place to sit and eat"
